how far apart are the actual wall attaching screw holes? I'd like to be able to hit studs with both.

The holes are 32cm apart (approx 12.5 inch) it's very unlikely that you could hit two studs if you're placing this below your TV and still get the speaker in the correct central position. The hardware we provide is good for all wall constructions I.e. brick, drywall or wood. We can't post it here but look online for "Cobra Anchors Triplegrip" These are the wall anchors (Raw Plugs) we provide with the hardware, perfectly capable of supporting the Sonos Ray which is very light compared with Sonos Arc which we provide the same hardware for fixing to the wall.
