I bought this chest freezer so I could defrost my standup deep freezer. Cheaper than some of the larger camping chest coolers, it made sense to purchase this to unload my stand-up freezer into this and use an additional chest cooler to get the job done. It says it can get down to -10F, and it meets the specifications. I fired it up, and the next day I unloaded most of the deep freeze's contents into it and kept its temp. I can not move it standing up into my SUV, so taking it to a destination would require most people to have it lay on its side. I can power this on my external power pack or a standard American AC connection. I have seen these in a RV as well as parks that provide AC outlets in pavilions. I considered unplugging it after I was done, but it works great for putting hot foods into it before storing in the deep freeze or making ice packs. Also, I have it running in our garage, and the current garage temperature is 85-90F. It continues to work well. I doubt I will have to buy it again, but I would if needed.

My husband and I bought this because we have a meat delivery subscription and we also buy bagged ice and keep lots of cold packs in the freezer for our ice chest. Things were starting to get tight and we were running out of room, so we went on the hunt for a small freezer, just for overflow. After much shopping around, and not wanting to spend too much $$$$, we decided on this Igloo 3.5 CF chest freezer. It arrived yesterday and was a breeze to unpack and move to our extra room. We plugged it in and then went out to dinner, and upon our return it was nice and cold, so we transferred our bag of ice and ice packs over to it. I left the temperature control knob set on 4 (as recommended in the manual) and placed a thermometer inside, which puts the temp at about 15 degrees F. I've checked it a couple times since (don't want to keep opening it unless I need to) and it has held steady at 15 degrees. There is a surprising amount of room inside this unit and we will get lots of use out of it. Mine arrived in pristine condition with no scratches or dents, and the black is very sleek looking. Also, it's whisper quiet, as we cannot hear it running at all. I will update this review if there are any changes, but so far we are thrilled with this Igloo freezer!

Great freezer for in the house or garage.

I waited 6 months so I could write an accurate review. Energy efficient, easy to use, and built like it plans to survive the apocalypse. If society collapses, this freezer will still be running and protecting my chicken nuggets. It’s surprisingly quiet, so quiet that I forget it’s there until I open it and remember I now own a personal Arctic research station. It holds way more than expected, which is great until you start losing food like it’s a frozen game of hide-and-seek. No dents on arrival and came on time!

Very good, space saver, not noise, works very well

This would have been a great little unit except it either a: has a bad thermostat or b: wouldn't last very long-even at lowest setting the compressor ran 95% of the time. At the user manual suggested setting it NEVER shut off. It freezes quickly BUT-how long could it last at that rate? I'm sure the thermostat was the only problem but Amazon is fantastic and I have a pickup scheduled-even though I discarded the box! Walmart, on the flip side wanted me to bring one back to the store that was delivered damaged! They offered me a $10 gift card! hah hah-I refused and argued for 20 minutes and finally they agreed to credit me. That didn't happen so I went through the whole thing again-Now they say they will credit me-we'll see-Moral of the story-shop at Amazon!
