I got tired of the small lights, and wanted something that had standard base screw in bulbs. The other style seems to have replacement bulbs that vary in design from each maker. I can't testify to durability since i have only had them for a few days. Yes, you do have to screw in each bulb when you get them so be prepared. But it is not hard and does not take a long time. I put these up early to both test them and cheer up the family, surgery is coming soon and we needed some uplifting! These lights are very bright and the color is awesome.

Expensive, but if you like your home to be the most festive on the block.... then this brand is the ticket.Two years ago I bought 300ft of the red and white lights and loved them. No one in my family seemed to know where the box ended up after we took the Christmas lights down (shocker) so last year I bought a different (and cheaper) set of lights, two times over, and nothing compared. I went for it again this year and bought the red and green, and love them.Note: Each string was $200 two years ago, so the price has stayed consistent. Also, be aware that you will have to manually screw each bulb on. I didnt realize this the first time around and it pissed me off. In my opinion, the quality and brightness of the lights are worth it though.

The wires and sockets are sturdy and the bulbs are hard plastic and bulletproof. Looks great and should last many years. The price is quite high though so weigh that against needing to replace every few years.Get some plastic hooks that work for either shingle edge or gutters. The C7 base snaps right into these snugly.

Not cheap, but tired of the consumer lights not working the next year and no longer available. So far the new lights look great and seem to be good quality. Let’s see if they work again next year!

Perfect color white. Classy looking. The bulbs are very durable, I dropped one from the roof onto my driveway, it didn’t break and still lit up.

the best lights by far. not cheap, but well worth the extra $$. My husband flipped when these were plugged in. very bright.

I spent a lot of time trying to find the right lighting for the roof. These were a little expensive but we’re honestly worth every penny. The light emitted is perfect, they are made of super thick polycarbonate which refracts the light beautifully and is virtually indestructible. We had so many neighbors ask where we found our lights. You should buy these.

My husband had to add aluminum foil to many (about 6 of the lights) out of the box as they didn't work as the connection to the lightbulb appeared loose. by doing so it did seem to fix the problem but now a few more are out today so he will have to do the same to the those out today. I would not recommend this. For a "commercial grade" light strand out of the box it didn't work without fixing it. Although it is bright and pretty when it works one would expect that out of the box - made cheaply.
