I purchased this item upon the recommendation of an acquaintance who said it was a good quality tool at a reasonable price. I don't often need a ferrule crimper. However, for the occasional hobbyist such as myself this has been great.

These are well made ferrule crimpers that work as described. I have had a couple of incomplete crimps which is why I did not rate them at five stars.

needed it for 14ga wire and 8ga wire to crimp ferrules , does great with them, nice uniform crimp and round.

Serviceable.

Purchased specifically for smaller gauge wires. After testing, I can confirm quality crimps are being produced. All crimped ferrules shown were pull tested holding pliers partially closed against the plastic collars of the ferrules, then the wire pulled. In all cases the wire snapped before being released from the ferrule. I can also confirm the black part of the grip is a non-sticky but still soft and usefully tactile type of rubber. As can be observed from the attached images, the crimps are also larger in all dimensions and heavier compared to the Preciva (square crimp) I already own. Another interesting point of fact is that on .5mm(area) ferrules, crimping with the Preciva fails every time, while the hold is strong with the Lytool crimper.

Nice quality feel pliers. They are compatible up to 10 mm2. On my item the max opening in the jaws is around 5.8 mm. Ferrules for 16mm2 are usually around 6.2 mm => they don't fit. 2x10mm2 twin ferrules are around 6.8 mm so they definitely won't fit.

Pros: - Solid crimp quality with consistent results. The ratcheting action bites down evenly and releases cleanly when the crimp is finished, so you’re not guessing if it’s done. Ferrules come out uniform and seat nicely in terminal blocks. - The self adjusting head is genuinely helpful. You can move from small control wires to thicker leads without swapping dies, and it still centers the ferrule so you get a square, straight crimp. - Handy for clean builds compared to tinning loose strands. Ferrules make insertion easier, reduce stray strands, and generally make screw terminals feel more secure. If you wire terminal blocks regularly it’s worthwhile. Cons: - Slightly bulky and weighty for a small toolbox. Not a deal breaker, but you'd notice it if you carry it around all day. I work as an electrical engineer on a ship and I prefer to have my own tools most of the time. Saves a lot of trouble and time. Who in their right mind will spend $400 on Knipex ferrile crimpers if you can get these? Handles are fine - orange is a thicker and harder plastic while black is a rubberized grippy surface. They are reasonably thick, never had them fail (and mind you I ABSOLUTELY ABUSE THEM even on the best day). The tension adjustment is a little on the weird side with that screw and gear thingy, but realistically you will probably do it like I did - find a good tension, set it and forget it. Ratchet works well, too. Overall - a great tool which does the job 110% of the time and costs as much as pizza. Highly recommend.
