I originally bought one of these silicone mats to use for my hot rollers, but realized they could be used for other purposes, as well. I have one underneath a table-top humidifier I have sitting on a dresser. Those things can get leaky, or the condensation drips off, which could be damaging to some surfaces. These mats work perfectly to prevent that from happening, and also protects from the heat. I'm going to get a few more to use with some other devices that can emit a lot of heat, or moisture. It's a great furniture/countertop saving product.
