***update, reached out to support they sent me a 20lbs box of Orchard grass as replacement. It was a super easy process and very much appreciate it! The animals are loving the orchard, good quality replacement. 1 star review went to 5 stars***** I feel bad leaving a poor review. But I honestly so upset with this quality. This is my second time purchasing the 25lbs box. First time was AMAZING. Arrived well before estimated date, soooooooooo full, like as soon you open the box be prepared for it to explode aha. And the quality of hay was phenomenal. I have guinea pigs, rabbits, and a chinchilla. Guinea pigs will eat anything. Rabbits are picky, and chinchilla is even pickier! Tried many brands, and local hay, but the first time I bought the pet select hay was the first time I had ever seen so little hay wasted. Even the chinchilla was eating 50% of the hay (normally he only eats 5%, so dang picky lol) . So I was excited to purchase again, but now this one, idk if it’s just a bad batch. Or if my first experience was just a. Really good batch. But this one feels sooo much like straw. Now even my guinea pigs who normally eat 95% plus of the hay I put in the rack are hardly eating 50% of it. They throwing it all to the side because it’s so hard and straw like. I’m hoping as I go through the box it gets better... but dang :( My fingers are crossed that this is just a fluke because that first purchase experience was amazing. But if the rest are like this then I’m definitely better off buying the local stuff.

The hay arrived way before the estimated delivery time wich was supposed to be on december 28, it seemed reasonable to me when i placed the order on december 14. But what a surprise it was when it showed up on my doorstep on the 21st, a full week before! It came packed nicely in a big convenient box, and when opening it you can smell that the hay is nice and fresh! Most importantly, my little Eevee loves her new hay!! She cant get enough of it and always has her head buried in it looking for the best pieces!! I will definitely buy some again once it runs out and can easily recommend this product to anyone who wants to make their little bunny happy!

We had 4 bunnies in our home, a Mini Rex, 2 Dwarf Lion Heads, and a Netherland dwarf. After we lost our Netherland dwarf due to Stasis I did a considerable amount of research to discover that 2nd Cutting Hay is considered one of the highest qualities of hay you can purchase for your bunnies, so I decided to give it a try. My bunnies did seem to enjoy the new hay and one of our Dwarf Lion Heads was even doing binky's after eating her hay, so I highly encouraged a friend of mine to buy some for her bunnies as well. Again her bunnies enjoyed this hay so we decided we would stick strictly with buying this hay for all of our bunnies in the future. My order arrived roughly a week earlier than expected which was a nice and pleasant surprise and the same thing occurred when my friend ordered hers. The hay comes in a fairly large cardboard box and the hay is the full length of the box. It was a nice green hay and kept nice in our basement. But since February the price has steadily been going up but the quality of hay hasn't changed, if anything the quality of hay has somewhat decreased. I have since started buying locally! I have been watching the price so I could purchase another box but every time I come on to check out the price, it is significantly higher than the previous time. Although this is considered a higher quality of hay, I would recommend saving yourself quite a bit of money and simply buying the Oxbow or Kaytee brands. Although those brands are maybe not considered as high of quality, they are both good brands, way cheaper plus you will receive a lot more hay, and my bunnies are just as happy with those brands. If the price were to return to the original price, I would highly encourage everyone to buy simply for the fact that this is considered higher quality and my dwarf lion head did do binky which was cute, but with the price hike, it is simply not affordable when you can go over to your closest pet store and buy locally and your bunnies will not even notice the change enough to make up for the price hike, mine didn't even seem to notice a difference when I had to switch back. UPDATE: January 2022. Because my bunnies enjoyed this so much in the past, I decided to give another box a try despite the price. I have to say I was very disappointed as my bunnies are refusing to eat the hay. The quality is not as described it has lots of brown and is very dry, not soft green as described. I paid $119.99 plus tax for a big box of hay that my bunnies are wasting because they don't care for it, for this price I expected high-quality hay as advertised.

When I first got my bunny as a baby I was feeding him alfalfa hay along with other veggies and a few pellets - he was already eating regular food. The thing with the alfalfa hay is that he was picking out the softer stuff and leaving behind the "sticks", so when it came time to invest in hay my first purchase from SPS was 3rd cutting because it is "softer" - so I bought the 40lb box. I have done farm work in the past and I know about hay. My first impression was of how there was so much brown and so little green. I thought that would change as I used the hay but it didn't change much, and it turns out as an adult my bunny preferred the crunchier stuff. That wasn't a problem because there was plenty of crunchy stuff, but then we came to the last 1/3 of the box, which was all shreds, fluffy stuff and dusty stuff. I needed to buy more hay, and now knowing he prefers the crunchier stuff, I chose to purchase the 25lb box of second cutting from SPS. Wow! It was like night and day! 100% green, highly compressed (the top of the box was bulging when I got it) and the bunny absolutely loves it and is now eating more hay. I didn't even keep going with the old box, and I think this 25lb box is going to last longer than the bigger one! I have nothing to complain about with my purchase of second cutting, and have since found out that most bunnies are fed second cutting unless they are older and need softer hay, or picky eaters. The thing I know about 3rd cutting is that it is the one MOST affected by summer - whether there are dry conditions and for how long, etc. This product came perfectly packed, UPS dropped it a day early, and the quality of the hay is top notch. I will probably stick with this brand and second cutting now for the foreseeable future, and would recommend Small Pet Select.
