Kids' French: First Steps in Learning

Great for young children
My four year old twins adore this, they listen to it at night as they go to sleep and it sticks in their head. It has a super mixture of songs and talking and is a wonderful way to learn.

Mostly excellent except for the atrocious French accents in some songs
This CD is excellent. My granddaughters always ask for it in the car. Well presented. However the accent of the singers in some songs is a disgrace (counting, colour, numbers songs). The words are hardly recognizable "lamata" instead of "Le matin", noooof instead of "neuf", ruige or bruine for "rouge or brun"). Other songs are beautifully sung by real French speaking singers. Overall excellent, pity about these 3 particular songs.

Highly Recommended
I bought this to play in the car predominantly for my 5 year old as we're going to France in the summer but also for my 3 year old and they both love it. It's always put on at their request when we're in the car and after a couple of weeks of playing, they're happy to say hello, to tell me (and lots of other people) their name, their age and my 5 year old will sit in the back singing along to the songs. This is an excellent start to learning the basics but it would be nice to know if there was a series of these CD's so you could carry on the good work in starting to prepare them for learning a new language. I'm also getting a lot of questions about how you say other things in French so I guess I need to brush up on my own school girl knowledge!!

Simple with Chirpy songs
My young son & I listen to this in the car at lot more than I expected we would (before I bought it). Simple but with Chirpy songs. We really enjoy singing along (even when we don't really follow a vast amount of the words). As children's CDs go - i'm pleased with my purchase

Excellent
My 4 year old daughter loves this CD, we went to Eurdisney in March 11 and she was fascinated by different languages and kept asking me what different things were in French (thank goodness for Google) she always asks for this CD in the car now. She loves singing along to Petit Papa and the other songs and I am really amazed by how much she has picked up. I also have the Spanish CD but haven't started this one yet. I can recommend this for young children (and Adults!!) as a starting point for learning other languages and for having some fun.

Disappointing
I am very disappointed with this CD. I was expecting it to be presented by a native French speaker; in fact, it is presented by a Mancunian whose French accent is not terribly good. There are several errors: 'un chanson' instead of 'une',' brun' for brown instead of 'marron' ('brun' refers only to hair colour). Also, there is far too much tedious and unnecessary explanation in English. I bought this for my 3 year old. She likes the songs, which is the only reason I am giving it 2 stars rather than 1.
