Q: what is a Hollywood waistband

I don't know why the other person that answered this answered with "I don't know, but ...", but the answer to your question is "the pants come above the natural waistline and have no actual waistband, they have darts instead. They're basically bringing back the '30s and '40s era pants that came up to your bellybutton."

Q: Is the olive color more greenish or grayish? Can't tell from the picture.

I've bought two pairs of the "olive drab" and they're both mostly gray. One pair definitely has more green in it. I think "dark sage gray" would be a better color description of this. But it's definitely not consistent.

Q: anyone tried these at the gym?

Well they are comfortable, light weight, and material is not as thick as jeans and if you get the right size you can move in them. The waist band does have a bit of elasticity to it. If you want exercise and wear them try walking, mowing lawn, raking leaves, wash car, cleaning out the garage. Otherwise try shorts at the gym, too much clothing at the gym can overheat the body
