Very nice upgrade from the beginners Dr. Otek pin pointer. Highly portable and very loud. Pairs perfectly with my xterra elite detector, no interference at all. Ultra accurate up to about 6-8 inches on highest sensitivity. Reducing the sensitivity while searching a plug is what i find to be the most effective way to tell true distance to the object. The iron signal is a nice feature but it has to be practically touching the object to read as iron. So far it's been worth the money.

I am so pleased with my newly purchased PRO-FIND 40. For months I hesitated to buy one because of the 40's high price. I did lots of pin pointer research over three months before I bought my PRO-FIND 40. After purchasing, I still left my new 40 home each day while continuing to use my previous pin pointer. In early December I became extremely displeased with my previous pin pointer that was turning off while in use and not turning back on. I was detecting in the pouring rain. The temp was in the high 30 degree range and my cold wet hands were quite uncomfortable. When I returned home the previous pin pointer started working again. The next day I started using my new PRO-FIND 40 and I have been super pleased with this 40. Today December 20, while I was detecting the temp was around 30 or 31 degrees and snowing. I included a picture to show how much snow fell onto my detector's coil while in use this afternoon. The PIN-POINTER 40 worked flawlessly the whole six hours in freezing weather. It has also worked perfectly the past two previous weeks in non-freezing temperatures. I recommend all new potential purchasers first read the online manual and to watch MINELAB PIN-POINTER 40 videos. This will help you make the decision to buy one in confidence.

A must have tool, for beginners and novices. Would i buy it again? Yes, without a doubt.

Been using the pro-find 40 for a while now and love it. Make sure to pack extra rechargeable batteries as well. Works best with a fresh battery but rechargeable’s are very affordable these days so I just take extra with me for long metal detecting sessions.

I have used this to find gold, coins, jewelry, and all sorts of metal trinkets in the ground. Works best with a large metal detector.
