An Absolutely Stunning 4K UHD Series
When I first watched the original Blue Planet series, I believed it to be sufficiently visually impressive to be impossible to better, however Blue Planet II in 4K UHD, with advances in filming facilities and techniques managed to outshine its magnificent predecessor.Personally, I also appreciated the music which accompanied the visuals. As I prefer to use subtitles in order to fully digest the wisdom of David Attenborough's words, the music was able to convey the mood of the moment in its own dramatic way, although it could easily overpower the essential speech for those not using subtitles. (Incidentally the subtitles themselves were beautifully presented, too.)Consequently, I would recommend Blue Planet II as an absolutely essential purchase for those wishing to see 4K film-making at its very best.

so for a year I was watching upscaled HD on the blu ray player rather than glorious 4k (still very good, by the way)
This is for the 4k version.Being technologically challenged, I had problems with Planet Earth 2 having plugged the connector into the wrong inlet on the AV receiver, so for a year I was watching upscaled HD on the blu ray player rather than glorious 4k (still very good, by the way). Having corrected that, the picture and sound on the new Blue Planet 2 disks seemed excellent but not quite with the pop I would have expected. I finally figured out a setting I had missed on the Samsung TV and now I can report that he mists have cleared and this series is a visual and aural treat, considering so much of it is obviously filmed underwater. It is also excellent value with so many episodes to watch. With the home theatre sound system properly adjusted, it sounds as if I have a serious water leak in the living room. The sex-changing fish with the lumpy head has a starring role, along with the greedy sea cucumber and the clam-busting denizen of the deep. Magnificent. More 4k nature documentaries please, BBC.

Wonderful and awful at time.
This documentary is a little revolution for documentaries. Most shots are splendid and show the new capabilities of our 4K-HDR screens.Only one problem is that there are some "stock shots", maybe from older documentaries or impossible to film on 4K are appearing and hurt the eyes. Some seems to be HD1080i, sometimes very badly compressed, but worse, it seems some are ony SD576i. The same appears on Planet Earth 2.I am french not speaking fluently english and however I understand 80% of the comments. Hearing Sir Attenborough is like reading a old classic book. I can't bear any dubbed version after that. International subtiles could have been a plus for a wider selling. For the content, sometimes it is very new, sometimes it is already seen and seen again. But the technical point make me often happy. If you are a nature and technique lover, you can go-go.

4K Reference Quality!
Having purchased the 4K UHD of Planet Earth 2 last year i had high expectations for this UHD release and boy Im not dissapointed. The Detail in this release is mental and the colors just pop off the screen, the UHD format really shines with releases like this, the BBC should be very proud :)Planet Earth 2 & Blue Planet 2 are the 2 4K UHD releases you should definatley own if you have a 4K/HDR TV.Video: 10/10Audio: 8/10Notes: The HDR is beautifully done, its not BANG in your face, it pops with color but is really natural looking.

It is beautiful and at times other worldly
If you've been lucky enough to have upgraded to the relevant TV and player that allows you to watch in UHD then look no further than this box set to understand why you bought them. It is beautiful and at times other worldly. Yet, it is the same planet that we live on. The images are so incredible that you can forget that this is nature in the raw and not CGI. Add David Attemborough and you have something very special indeed. Endlessly watchable.

Perfect!
Everything sounds and looks amazing, couldn't ask for more!

A 4K treat for all ages
The delivery of the disc was on time and with no hassels. As for the disc itself, it is breath taking. David Attenborough's voice evokes nostalgia of one's childhood when one used to watch those one hour NatGeo specials on DD. The content and quality of the disc are superbly shot but you must have a 4K TV to truly enjoy it. It is a special collection and a keeper.
