Amazing!
I was looking for some high quality Bluetooth capable speakers for the living room, without breaking the bank. I wanted something small, but with great sound. Read the reviews on these Edifiers and decided to try them. I figured for only $150 I wouldn't be taking too much risk if they didn't live up to the hype. Well, I'm happy to say they absolutely lived up to all the hype and more. I already expected them to be good based on the reviews, but I was still caught a bit off guard by just how good they really do sound. Quite frankly, I'm not sure how they can pull off this level of quality for the price? These speakers are quite a bit heavier than I expected and also a little bit smaller than I expected (which is nice). The cords that come with them to connect the speakers to each other, etc, are quite thick and high quality. The finish on the speakers is pristine, and they are solid as a rock. They are impressive visually - just beautiful, and sonically superb. Nothing chintzy about these speakers in any way. I'm just some guy who likes music, so I don't really know how to describe the sound from a professional standpoint, other than that they sound really clean and tight. Bass is solid and clean and absolutely not lacking, despite the small speaker size. Mids and Treble also very clean and crisp. I can really hear all the vocals well, and the highs are sharp and crisp without having that too sharp sound that is sometimes almost painful in certain speakers, if you know what I mean. They just sound good - really good. Balance of highs and lows is just really, really nice. I didn't even adjust the Bass or Treble - they sounded fantastic at the neutral adjustment setting. I did try turning up the bass just to see where it would go, and it went from tight and solid to a bit more thumping, if that's what you like. Like I said, I'm no sound pro, but I'm not a stranger to good speakers - I have some nice KEF's for my main stereo with a 240 watt amp, 80 watt separately powered sub, etc, so I feel like I have some experience with good sound. These Edifier's are as good as anything I've heard, really. Obviously, these don't get as loud as my main system, or have quite as much bass, but I don't need them to. I just wanted something nice for my living room when I want to listen to music there, and I have absolutely fallen in love with these Edifier speakers - just wonderful.Bluetooth connectivity worked great - without a hitch to my Android phone. So far I've listened to some Van Halen, Queen, Garbage, Tribe Called Quest, Led Zeppelin, Craig Finn, Fatboy Slim, Sunflower Bean, Fountains of Wayne, UB40 (on CD), and Vanity Fair. It all sounded outstanding on the speakers. I'd rate them 10 stars if I could. If you are questioning buying these, do not hesitate, you won't be sorry. I will probably buy another pair for my son who is leaving for college, as well as a pair for my cabin. Again, I really have trouble understanding how they made these so very good for such a reasonable price. But hey, who cares? Buy them and just enjoy the amazing sound, knowing you have money left to spend on music to play on them!

Solid construction and clean audio
This pair has solid construction all around with quality drivers delivering clean and balance audio. Bluetooth connectivity is simple and streaming quality is excellent with ample loudness and soundstage. Using RCA to Denon CD player and the speakers comes alive with warm and clean sound with emphasis on clean highs and satisfying bass with adjustment. The compact speaker tilting 10 degree to give listener ear level advantage. Overall very pleased with the quality of sound and bass with this size and price point.

Very good, but not for me
Highly recommend. 4-stars to give this review credibility. Add another star for my overall opinion. I was surprised how good these (wood grain) speakers look. The build is very solid, the controls (volume, treble, bass) are quite nice. On/off switch in back. Blue tooth works great - easy to connect and no dropouts. The price (bought on a Prime sale) was almost a steal. The volume was more than enough for our 20x20 living room.At first, the speakers sounded dull, but turning my phone to max volume gave it a nice, clean sound. Use the speakers volume control (on the side and remote) to adjust the volume level. The bass is very strong, too strong for me. The bass control runs from -6db to +6 db. Even at -6db the bass was more than I like. Alas, II'm returning these speakers, but doubt I'll find alternative speakers this good at this price.

Color me impressed
I decided to take the leap and buy these Edifier R1700BT speakers after seeing many good reviews of their speakers. I wanted something with more power, crisp sound and better Base than the Bose Companion 2 Series IIIs I’d been using. I also liked the ability to use the speakers without having to turn my PC on through Bluetooth.Design: The R1700BT has a really nice modern aesthetic with an upward angled design sending the sound to you. I bought the white version (I’ll add more images later) and found that the front cover is a medium grey and not black like I’d expected from the images. The speakers are W=6.06”/154mm H=10”/254mm D=8.14”/214mm. Setup was simple and I was able to connect my Polk PSW10 subwoofer to them without any issue.Sound: I’m not going to act like I am a sound expert or audiophile but in my opinion. The sound quality from these speaker is clearer than my Marshall Stanmore II which I think is pretty great. These are loud for my home office to which I won’t put the volume above 60% and the bass is excellent too especially for bookshelf speakers.Connectivity: The Bluetooth paired immediately with my phone once selected and still played clearly when I went into the basement (the office is on the 2nd floor).
