Great little device for transferring of backing up files from you devices to friends devices.

Looks cool and works well, somewhar helpful for the control on the device overall i think its good, but slightly expensive. Still its very nice to look cool when using it.

I have had this for a while now and it is awesome. I use it constantly for file backups and mass transportation of documents. The fact that it doesn't need to be ejected or what not because of safely powering down on its own is great. It's small size makes it perfect for daily carry and use.

As a tech enthusiast, I recently stumbled upon this brand in a YouTube video and really love their concept of making usable, moddable SSDs. I thought it was so cool and found it simple enought to set this up with the proper NVME drive that I jumped on the purchases immediately coming up with some use cases in mind. Although maybe not as ideal as intially intended for the specific use case in mind... I still have made it very useful for a diversified case scenario through partitioning. The initial thought was to use this as a seemless external SSD for my Lenovo Legion Go. That is something I still may look into. This company seems to provide nice concepts made of high quality materials that coulde be revolutionary to tech enthusiasts such as myself.

Purchased this item before the seller even had any "compatible computer memory" listing on their item. if you really check reviews you will see plenty of others who have same issue so i am guessing this is why they started listing compatible memory as their device is sub-par so they are scrambling to protect themselves. The issue is the device will just stop transferring. After reaching out to the seller they started by having me send photos of the device and the firmware and the memory inside of it as they did not believe me. then they started telling me the memory i had was not compatible. after they posted compatible memory more recently my memory is indeed listed as compatible. i have screenshots of both versions from their listing. after months of them first not beleiving me, nowt hey want me to ship it back to china! it was not delivered from china, it was delivered from amazon. But of course its past amazons return window because i went and asked for help from the seller. They are fully able to apply a refund as another vendor i had issues with after the 30 day window (ugreen) did so without a lengthy back of forth of bad english and horrible customer service. while the device i got from Ugreen was not a nvme portable storage device, i can tell you that i am absolutely going to be buying their device without a lcd gimick that really does not help at all, or a power protection circuit that also is worth nothing. it glitches out and you end up having to unpower and let the power run out of the capacitor before plugging in anyway just to get computer to read it again. save your money and buy from a reputable name instead of "dock case" that is just reselling a version of the same thing all around amazon.

After purchasing the Dockcase and a drive from a major SSD manufacturer, I was having issues getting it to work, so I reached out to customer service. They were very helpful, and after trying a few things, concluded that the drive simply wasn't compatible with the Dockcase. Since the specs indicated that it should be and I would have had no way of knowing this myself, they went ahead and refunded me automatically. This is the customer service that we all dream of! Aside from the issues with that one specific drive not being compatible, the product itself is as cool as it looks and works great too.

At the end of the day, the Dockcase is a solid product. A little over-engineered for most use cases, a little more expensive than its simpler peers, but undeniably achieves what it sets out to do- with a few caveats. The biggest is a missed opportunity. The Dockcase comes with a carrying strap to keep better track of the small little thing, and it includes a braided 65W 10gbps 1ft cable. However, these two separate pieces should be a singular entity. M.2 cases both cheaper and more expensive than this can be found which have a 2-in-1 strap and cable included with them. In the end, it's hardly what you'd call a deal breaker, but if you really wanted to minimize the size and space required for the Dockcase, it quickly becomes a point of detraction. In my case however, the small 1ft cable is a perfect fit for my use case, so it just takes the place of what would be an already existing cable alongside the rest of my tech. Getting into smaller details, with this instance of Dockcase being such a small form factor, the screws end up being a bit of a pain. Kudos to Dockcase for providing the correct sized screwdriver to make install and setup easy, but either having a magnetic tip on the screwdriver or captive screws would make it infinitely easier. The absolute last thing you want (even though a spare screw is included) is to drop and lose a screw during the process. As for positives, while a lot of the details on the screen are mostly for flair, the temperature readout is surprisingly helpful. Though the metal construction and thoughtful fin design- alongside pre-installed thermal pad- do more than a good enough job of dissipating heat, it's great information to have when you're in hotter climates that might impact performance or usage of the m.2 drive. While on the topic of the screen, while the device is (somewhat clumsily) controlled by a single button, the ability to rotate the screen to fit your preference (or limitations) is really helpful. Considering that there's only 1 usb port, it makes the selling point/gimmick of the screen much more usable. Overall, if I were to summarize the positives of the display, it would boil down to something of the following: if you are a power user of tech in much of any capacity, the display makes the Dockcase worth it. Device connectivity readouts, temperature monitoring, read only mode- there are a lot of features made accessible and easy with the display. A display doesn't *need* to exist for those features to be included, but the display makes using them quite a bit easier. Past that (and its power loss protection) the Dockcase is, unsurprisingly, very alike to many other m.2 enclosures at this size. It's fast, it's durable, pocket-able, and so on and so forth. So while I do quite like everything about this little enclosure, you could absolutely shed the extra details and get something that does 80% of what this Dockcase does. For most people that's enough. For people like myself though, paying that little bit more is worth it.

The DOCKCASE is a powerful M.2 SSD enclosure interfacing a 2230 NVMe drive inside a tiny form factor connected over USB Type C Gen 3.2 bus. Its built-in LCD monitors SSD throughput in real time and toggling the function key even allows for voltage and temp stats graphing on screen. What makes this NVMe enclosure different is an embedded capacitor driving 3S of power loss protection when disks are inadvertently ejected from Type C allowing for safe data caching write operations to complete minimizing corrupted file systems and ensuring the NVMe disk remains powered down correctly. Read and write SSD performance saturates its USB Type C plug and is backwards compatible into 5Gbps throughput speeds but does vary based on which PCI-E Gen 3 or 4 solid state drive is installed into the 2230 chassis. Its crafted out of a solid aluminum shell which feels rugged yet compact enough to fit inside the pocket while carrying it around. Flipping around to the bottom, the aluminum enclosure shell acts as a passive heat sink cooling down high load NVMe drives using an internal silicon thermal transfer pad directly on top chipsets although tends to get somewhat hot to the touch underneath. One of its quirks is the M.2 enclosure has an active SSD management controller which sits in front causing a boot time lag of about 10 seconds before it initializes the USB Type C connection to PC. Its optimized for portability but lack of mounting options for attaching onto laptops or Mini PCs means it simply tends to stick out off the 6cm USB Type C cable. Charging up its capacitor takes about 15 seconds every boot sequence which gets drained in the 3 second of PLP and core reason why its precision engineered for being an external drives. The built-in display for monitoring stats coupled with braided Type C Gen 3.2 cable fits right inside a tiny form factor making the DOCKCASE a solid smart enclosure for 2230 SSDs on NVMe interface.
