Hear me now and believe me later
One year ago I bought a Jean Paul intermediate trumpet. Played for 8 months and then bought a Yamaha pro trumpet and gave the JP trumpet to my son to learn on. We train every day. His JP trumpet is a workhorse. Sometimes we switch and I play the JP instead of the Yamaha 6335, and it is astounding how good the JP is compared to the Yamaha. The sound is VERY close and the feel is of course not as "refined" I guess, but it doesn't seem to matter. The JP of course does not have the compression that the Yamaha pro trumpet has, but for beginning players it is a really great quality instrument from a really great company. They even built me some custom gold plated valve stems after I ordered the student trumpet. This company seems to be really about pleasing the customer. So, I decided to try the clarinet. Bought this from JP a few days ago and I can already tell it is SOLID with a capital S. It's gonna be fun learning this thing!

great clarinet for the price
I bought this for my 6 grader's beginning band in middle school. we looked at rental options first, but renting price=buying this clarinet price , so why not own one? it's great value for the money, very nice craftsmanship, good quality for beginners, sounds pretty pleasant too. Their customer service is the best. The cleaning swab is wrong in our package, I contacted customer service, they responded immediately and sent out a new one quickly. if you are having any problems or missing something, contact customer service, they are always there to help.

Great Clarinet
This is an upgrade from the school one last year, my student is on her 2nd band year and intends on continuing to play. I foresee a few years out of this clarinet. The sound is lovely and it looks beautiful. Her teacher threw a fit about buying an “Amazon made in china” instrument but this is made in USA and is lovely!

Excellent clarinet for the price
Pros: It's a great clarinet. It looks good and sounds good. -- tune is spot on. Plays much better (and easier) than my 40+ year old Vito. Cons: There do seem to be some QC issues. I didn't/haven't have/had any problems with bent keys, but there were 3-4 loose screws. One was backed pretty far out. Others here have also reported the same problem. Since I read their reviews before I received the instrument, I was prepared with a screwdriver and tightened everything as I unpackaged. Inversely, there were a couple screws that are a little chewed up, like there was trouble installing them. Finally, I'm pretty sure it's not normal, but two of the keys had their labels left on. Yes, it's trivial, but it speaks to the lack of proper quality control. Overall: I'm happy with the purchase. If I had to, I'd buy another one.

Perfect for a student moving up
I bought this for my daughter when her previous over 30 year old Clarinet broke. Thus far her only complaints come from the "slime" coming from the bottom of the clarinet after long periods of play. Yep, that's right... this thing is new and clean and she can't seem to grasp the fact that her own spit has found its way out of the bottom of the instrument. My wife, a clarinet player herself keeps trying to steal it. For the price, this thing simply cannot be beat. Only concern, it comes with two barrels, this confused myself and my wife, my daughter uses the shorter of the two. But, this did turn into a bit of a lesson on clarinets, because multiple barrel options is a thing advanced players would actually want. So if you're not expecting it, the extra part can be a bit of a surprise. This is our second Jean Paul instrument, the first being their TR-430 Trumpet, both are doing very well. Original Review: February 24, 2019 Updated Review: January 13, 2021 This Clarinet survived my daughter's Freshman year of marching band abuse with no complaints or issues we couldn't fix ourselves. I have no doubt that we'd be working well into our second year of marching band were it not for the pandemic.

Beautiful clarinet at a nice price point for a beginner ...
Beautiful clarinet at a nice price point for a beginner player. Package arrived double packed to ensure the contents arrived safely. I ordered a few upgraded items such as a Bari Mouthpiece and Rico H Ligature but unfortunately, they were not included. I called Jean Paul directly and they were incredibly nice and responsive. They provided me a tracking order of the replacement items, literally within minutes. Great customer service!

I have found this instrument to be of amazingly better quality than I expected.
I have a student who cannot afford a high-priced band instrument, and although it went against my better judgment, I purchased this instrument for him to use, mainly because of the cost and because of the positive reviews it has received. It has made a tremendous difference in his approach to playing. The instrument has a great sound and appears to be of very good quality. I'm very happy that I made this purchase - for me as well as my student!

Buen instrumento de calidad.
Puedo opinar ya después de algunos meses de haberlo adquirido, y el instrumento a funcionado sin ningún problema. Se lo compre a mi hija pues ingreso a la escuela de música y todo va bien.

Plays sharp
My daughter was happy with this clarinet as a Christmas present bought ready for her new year of lessons at school. Unfortunately during her first lesson her teacher noticed it was playing sharp. After a few adjustments, like change of mouth piece and barrel, it still played sharp. Even wiggling the barrel out a little would not get it in tune. We took it to a repairer this week who said it is manufacturing and design fault. It is also now past the return window to have it replaced or get a refund. This was purchased based on reviews from customers which makes me wonder who is actually writing these reviews. I am hoping there are no others who have had this experience. Should have gone with a Yammaha or a European brand. So disappointing. 😔

Great value!
Great product for the cost! A little fuzzy in the middle register, but I feel most clarinets I’ve played are. Perfect for slightly more advanced students and those who simply want to take up clarinet as a hobby or join a community band

I love this thing!
Very decent for what I paid for it. I love this thing. I'm playing every day and finding out new things about the Clarinet. I play several different wind instruments. This one is a keeper.
