Crucial is the bomb! They make quality items, I have used them several times over the past 20 years, never been disappointed. This little SSD did not disappoint either! I bounce between my iMac and MBP, it takes not time at all to back up my iMac, and it's small and compact enough to travel in my laptop case. I did purchase the case to fit, it's just a top quality item! Not noisy at all, simple plug and play, I will purchase again.

If I could give this little device 6 stars, I would. It floored me. The download speeds are blazingly fast. I have no way to measure them, but comparing it to a Samsung T7 and the SanDisk Extreme, although all advertised at at 1000 Mb/sec, this little thing downloads an order of magnitude faster. I am using a MacBook Pro and this is the specially Mac formatted Crucial SSD version. The SanDisk was unreliable, would mount sometimes, not other times, and was of the slowest speeds. The Samsung is very reliable, slightly faster than SanDisk, but still of much slower speeds than this device. This device is far smaller than either, although all had the same 2 Tb capacity. This device has a footprint smaller than a credit card in both height and width (obviously not thickness). You could easily slide this into your pocket and not even feel it - smaller and less bulky than a car key. The front appears to be aluminum, the back rubberized so it stays put. This is an important feature given its small size and weight to not accidentally lose it. It comes with an indicator light - hard to see on the product images but hidden inside the lanyard mounting hole. This may sound silly but is important to me. Samsung has one, the SanDisk Extreme has not. That being the device that would not mount reliably, you never know what is going on without an indicator, I.e. is it still trying to mount or is it dead?No issue here with the Crucial device. All devices are advertised to be shock, dust and moisture resistant. Obviously I am not about to test either. Overall the Crucial X9 is the best SSD I have seen, especially for Macs, although they offer a generic not Mac specifically formatted version as well. Highly recommended. Well done!

Works fine. Drive is really small and feel a little cheap and "plasticy." Drives from competitors definitely feel better made with more "heft." Build quality could definitely be better. I noticed that transfer speeds have dropped significantly since filling up with data - drive is at about 40% full now. I don't notice this type of significant drop in speed with my other Samsung T7 SSDs. Not the fastest SSD but still fast enough when compared to spinning HDDs. A good drive if you snatch these for under $200.

Lots of space for backups & large files. Good value. No issues

The drive seems fine while it works. Isn't that the case with most of these things? I was using this to store my Dropbox folder on a Mac laptop. That's not...easy. But still, between being very careful and ensuring the computer never went to sleep, things seemed to work out. Turns out I got one that was bad out of the box. Took over a year to figure it out. Kept having weird inexplicable corruptions while the drive otherwise seemed totally fine. I blamed it on Dropbox at first, and my general lack of knowledge on what file system I should be using on a Mac. Finally the last time I got some cryptic Dropbox error message, I couldn't even list the contents of a directory. I knew that meant physical drive problems. I connected it to a Windows PC (the only way you can run their diagnostics) and ran it...all green lights. Other third-party tools told me the drive was full of bad sectors. Upon closer inspection, their tool showed the number of "media errors" as 65535 - a clear indication the counter had maxed out. How is that drive "in good health"?! It's not. Their tool lies. I sent them the screenshot and they immediately gave me an RMA number. However, they demand that you ship the drive to them, then they examine it, and then they send a replacement. Completely inappropriate for relatively large drives that I have nowhere else to back up. A lot of the data was still readable but I literally had nowhere else to put it. They refused to drop-ship a replacement drive. Why? Why can't they just "sell" me one, and then refund me when they verify the drive was bad? So I had to buy another one on Amazon, with the intention of then returning the new drive they eventually send back. I sent the drive with tracking. I could see they had received it. I emailed them for a status update and they claimed they had not received it. So I send them the tracking link and they said "oh yes it looks like it's here". Wow. At that point I stopped paying attention. Eventually I got an email that they verified the drive was bad but the X9 was and end-of-life product so they were sending an X10 instead. Great, now I can't return it. Some time later I got something slightly larger than a shoebox with a lot of paperwork on it. I didn't think much of it. When I got around to opening this double-thick, box-in-a-box package, the replacement drive was tossed to one side in this huge box full of airbags. I just...cannot. There is more weight in packaging, as if they have never serviced a small electronic device before. So, warranty works like this: 1. You have to double-check their diagnostic tool, which lies. 2. You have to nag them to make sure they actually look at your drive. 3. They will eventually send you something back. The overall process for me was a month. That is not product support. That is just punishment. Never buying Crucial again.
