Heatless Hair Styler (Bag, Black)

First, my hair type: I have long (mid-back) grey, naturally wavy, kinky hair. It’s very coarse, holds water for a long time. My hair routine is to get a wash and blowout and either a flatiron or curl every Friday, because there is no way I can get the kink out by myself. It doesn’t need to be washed more often than that as it’s so coarse and heavy. I use shower caps and take baths to keep my hair from getting wet during the week. Sometimes, to get a curl, I tie my hair up in wired memory foam rollers, which works but they can be uncomfortable to sleep on.I’m going on vacation to Hawaii and am concerned about packing too much as well as hair care, so when I saw this on Amazon Giveaways, I thought I’d try it. (I’m still owed the 20% which didn’t take).Last night, I put my hair up in it dry, which I found relatively easy. I didn’t worry about small pieces that fell out as I knew they’d be under the curl. I looked like a Mormon Fundamentalist but that’s ok.I slept comfortably without anything digging into my head. This morning, I took it out, shook out my head, and have the glorious curls you see in the photos. I have not combed it yet, which I do using a wide tooth comb. My head is a bit sore having so much heavy hair at the top but I’m tender-headed and was expecting it. Tonight, I’ll try to put the bunn lower and see what happens.The only downside is the curls are a bit messy. When I use the rollers or curling iron, I can place the curls where I want and separate for smaller curls. This is less refined. Still looks good.I don’t know why some people get poor results and others don’t. I would say it’s best to try in 2nd day hair and you may get better results if your hair normally easily holds curl.The real test will be if I can get this type of result on vacation in a humid place and after having to dry my hair myself. But so far, this Charlie Curl tool is very impressive.In my opinion, this is a good tool for very thick, coarse hair, at least with a professional blow dry. It’s definitely going to Hawaii with me.

I loved the idea of this and was so keen to get my hands on it. Like the girl in the photo I have very long hair. However, my hair is a little layered around the face which means all those hairs don't go in the curler. Added to which I have fine, soft hair and by the time I've put it in, all the under half of my hair has fallen out. And you can't sleep in it. It pulls and hurts.Sadly, it's for the trash. I hate being wasteful with items, but this is been a really bad buy.The concept is great in theory, but in practise it is uncomfortable and not up to the job.

Update: after about five months of using Charlie curls, it broke. The inside wire just split, rendering it useless. I used it about four nights a week and I wasn’t hard on it, and plus, it’s expensive for what you get. I’m bummed because it really did give my hair some body and slight curls. I won’t be buying another one because for $25, it should last more than a few months. :(Previous review:I had some serious trepidation when I ordered this, as I noticed that most people who like it have long, thick Barbie Doll hair. I have fine, layered hair that reaches just past my shoulders, and though I seem to have enough of it, I was worried that this wouldn't work for me. However, I used it last night and voile: I had some nice waves and body in my hair this morning. I slept in it and didn't notice that it was uncomfortable and it stayed in my hair all night. I didn't have the illustrious Barbie Doll curls that are shown in the advertisements, but I did have some nice body and it stayed in my hair through a hectic work day. So, if this gadget holds up and continues to work, I may even update my review to reflect five stars instead of four. So far, this is a great hair gadget that even works for people who don't have a ton of long, thick mermaid hair. Score! I would have given it five stars, but for what you get, this product is expensive.After using this a few more times, a tip: don't use it when your hair is wet. If you just spray your dry hair a bit, just enough to make it slightly damp, then use the CharlieCurl, you'll have better results. I tried to sleep in it after a shower with wet hair and my hair didn't hold the curl for most of the day, even though it was mostly dry by the morning. I've also noticed that spraying a bit of product in your hair before you put it in really helps set the curls.

I really wanted to love this and have it work as described but unfortunately it did not do the trick. A little about me: I have medium length hair (about 3" below shoulders) that has a natural curl in it on day one from shower that turns into a weird wave on day two. I don't really use any styling tools at home and don't use many products for my hair other than Pureology Stength shampoo/conditioner and a moisturizer mixed with water in a spray bottle. I was really hoping this product would be an easy and painless way for me to look like I put more effort into my hair without causing any damage.My experience: I was really excited to try this on night one. I loaded up my spray bottle, spritzed my hair and watched a video on how to curl my hair up and create a bun on the top of my head while my CharlieCurls did it's thing. This was about the time I also realized this was not going to work smoothly. I attempted to roll my hair like the video showed multiple times and ended up with some of my hair not staying in the roll and half of it just falling out when I created the semi bun on my head because I could not get the device to crimp tightly. After multiple times of this happening, I gave up on my attempts and decided to send this back.Maybe my hair is too layered, maybe my CharlieCurls was defective, I'm not really sure. I wish I was one of the lucky people this worked for because I would love to have 'styled' hair while not applying any heat.

Have to say I wasn't expecting much when I read the other reviews but was looking for a no heat curler so purchased CharlieCulrs. I have shoulder length hair with layers, I love it, it certainly works for me. It takes a few goes to get used to catching all the layers up in the CharlieCurls. I sleep in mine and it leaves me with fabulous curls for the day. I have tried it with and without product and the curls are more defined & last longer if you add some product before rolling up hair. I would definitely recommend and have bought two more for daughters.

Non funziona, poco pratico, prezzo non giustificato!!

Really liked it as it WAS working fabulously up until the wire inside broke, which was within a week of use. Very disappointed.
