Slightly sweet, slightly spicy delicious 1,000,000%
Absolutely delicious! It's not too spicy but there is some heat! I'm so obsessed with ttekbokki and my son and I both really like Asian cuisine! The portion size of these are perfect for pairing with some ramen noodles and sharing with someone, but they're definitely single serving sizes. Super easy to make add water to the line, however I found in my microwave I needed to add a bit more water, but water, powder packet and rice noodles (rince your rice cakes so they don't stick to each other.

Addicting!
Very addictive, great flavor too. They’re not insanely spicy, but they’ve got just the right amount of spice where you can feel it in your mouth. Chewy, but tender. A must-have for your guilty pleasure cheat meals 👀❤️

It’s Actually Really Good
I used to eat ttdeokbokki from restaurants before finding out that sometimes the rice cakes are preserved in alcohol. As a person of Muslim faith, I had to start looking for ttdeokbokki that wasn’t doused in alcohol (I prefer zero alcohol in my food, even if there are difference of opinion on preserved food in alcohol) so I tried these. These taste more like instant tdeokbokki if you’re making it the way it’s indicated on the box. I found a way to make these tastier, similar to gourmet tteobokki. If you can find fish cakes and add other ingredients like shrimp and oysters, this tastes very good. The spice level is high (make sure you get the spicy one if you want the spice factor). I also add mozzarella cheese on top and this stuff bangs. While your stirring the sauce and rice cakes, I’d recommend during the last few minutes, cover the pan with a lid. This will allow the ttdeokbokki to absorb more water, making it 10x chewier. It’s literally the best. I will say that the rice cakes a bit smaller on average so use both packs for a meal.

Tastes weird
I was super excited to try it but when I made it I noticed it smelled weird. Like old bbq sauce mixed with something else, it was strong and off putting. I brushed past that because I wanted to see if it at least tasted good…it didn’t. It was supposed to be sweet and spicy, there was barely any spice and the sweetness tasted artificial. I can’t say anything about the chewiness because I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I didn’t really like it. Super sad because I was so excited about finally trying this dish and it turn out bad.

Chewy and weird
I’ve always wanted to try teokbooki. From being a Kdrama fan to K-pop. Always seen people eating it and wanted to try it as well. The rice cake itself is chewy and feels uncooked. The sauce was alright it wasn’t something you can call tasty but average. It wasn’t spicy tho. You will have to boil the rice cake a lot more 20 min for it not taste raw. I personally always overcook ramen, so this teokbooki didn’t sit right to me.
