Very clear, down-to-earth account of audio recording essentials. Good direct writing style supported by excellent visuals. An ideal textbook and handbook for novice and professional alike.

I'm a pro audio guy, but for teaching son about about things I thought I would give him some good reading material. This is a great foundational, practical book and recommended reading. The particular copy was used, but in as expected condition.

Pretty descriptive on a few different aspects of production. Glad I bought it. Obviously no book says everything but I’d say it’s worth it to have if you produce or interested in producing music.

It’s a great books so far. What I like is the technical content and the practical exercises you can do in your DAW in conjunction with the downloadable file samples. The writing style is more relaxed and not dry and purely technical, which I really like. I’m in chapter 3. I‘ll add more later.

This is the industry standard text for learning the complicated craft of audio engineering. I use it for two of the courses I teach in Recording Arts Department of Citrus College in Glendora, CA. It's been an invaluable resource for me since its early editions when Robert Runstein first published it, and David Miles Huber has carried the tradition admirably. Broken down into the logical areas of recording, each section covers its topic thoroughly, and as a bonus, it's easy for anyone to read. Finally, each edition manages to stay completely up-to-date with the latest developments in audio technology, no mean feat in today's fast-moving world. I have one minor complaint: there is a typo in Figure 6.9b on page 203 - the fourth box from the left is labeled "A/D conversion" when it should be "D/A conversion."

Modern Recording Techniques started as course material for me. As I continued learning through my classes, I felt it very easy to connect to the information in my book. So much so, that I have been sucked in as curiosity has me begging for answers to questions I didn’t know I had! 10/10, 5 stars, all the jelly beans, I cannot recommend this book enough for those looking to sate the thirst for audio production knowledge!

I use this book as the text in my class teaching Sound Engineering. I first obtained it in its 4th edition and found it to be well written, covering the ideas and concepts that give the student a broad view of how the sound industry developed and functions, the science and technology behind it, and practical insight in combining knowledge, skill, and people to create commercially viable audio products. I urge my students to keep the book after the semester and to take the time to read the chapters not covered in the semester.

I absolutely love the content of this book - first read an earlier edition back in 1991. It’s a great shame this edition (soft cover) won’t last for my kids to read in the next year or so. About a month it’s already falling apart. With very little use the first few pages have come loose. I have many books years old - this one will not be one of them it seems!! Don’t purchase the soft cover - total waste of money. Sad that such brilliant work (from the author) is wrapped so poorly!

Libro imprescindible, obra muy completa sobre todo el mundo del sonido, producción, mezcla... Una pena que no exista una traducción al castellano del libro.

If you are serious about learning Audio Engineering this is a great reference for learning. Buy it.
