Works! Even when you appreciate that it is working.
We have used this net to cover a small pool during the winter. This and a solar cover is all you need in Texas. It seemed to do a good job, nothing special. Yet, after a Midwinter swim this last month, I decided to leave the net off and just use the solar top. We had a nice little storm roll through leaving branches and debris everywhere. It took a little cleanup. Little did I know that my pool had now filled up with dirt and debris. It didn't look like much on top because I had cleaned up. Once I pulled that cover off, I realized I am never going without this net again!

A free form size would be nice but just be creativve
Our freeform pool is barely 20 x 25 and the best option was the 18X36. The net is actually 22 x 40 and is huge so it took some creativity to give us deck space. Cutting is not an option as it would just cause problems so we rolled it as close to our shape and used tie wraps at regular intervals. It's not perfect but I was able to pull the cover off fairly easily to clean and add chemicals. It is sturdy enough yet very light to handle. It takes some adjusting to get all the sides settled, but they adjust nicely once the pump is off and the jets aren't directing it. There is a roll that runs under the waterfall and seems to work fine that way. We are divers and had a supply of soft scuba weights that worked perfectly without spending more on water tubes. They are like little bean bags but drain well and the 3 lb weights did the trick. We are in south Florida and only really need this in the early spring when the winds have been howling and leaves are falling faster than we can skim. However, you CAN easily user your pool net and skim gently across the mesh to clean most of the leaves off. Daytime pictures were hard to get a good angle but hopefully the evening picture gives an idea of how it settled in. So far it has worked well and the price couldn't be beat.

Very pleased! 😊
Purchased a few months back for upcoming fall. Installed 10-09-22. Review 10-10-22. We Purchased this net with the intention being able to prevent hours of scooping leaving during the fall and winter months because we dont close our pool. The net was easy to install, and materials seem very durable. I do recommend 2 people for install. We stretched to so it wouldn't rest on the water with hopes of being able to blow off any dry leaves. Not sure if that will work but it keeps the leaves out, I will be pleased. Overall quality seems excellent.

Damaged
Received this prior to hurricane Ian's approach to keep excess leaves out of the pool. It had a large hole where it was not properly sewn to the binding. Because we needed ASAP, I chose not to return it as we would not have gotten a replacement in time. Not the easiest to install, but not extremely difficult either. Make sure you have plenty of stakes or water tubes on hand. With that said, it has done a good job of keeping the leaves out and will make cleaning the pool easier.

Working well, strong for it's weight.
I'm using this leaf net for a garden pond actually, not a pool. Although the netting material appears a little thin, it is actually stronger than expected. The hole size is fairly small which is good for keeping most all tiny leaves and such from getting through. I bought a size that was a good deal larger than I needed because I'm using large stones around the edges to keep it in place, just taking the excess over the stone and tucking it in under the backside. My biggest concern, aside from keeping leaves out of the pond, was my dogs. They use the pond for playing and drinking, general good times. The previous net I used was plastic mesh (this new one may be plastic ? but has more of a fabric feel) and very thin strands. By the end of fall, it had numerous rips in it from them stepping on it to get into the shallow water areas and play. The Dirt Defender, in my application, still sags into the water since I don't have any floats or framework across the pond to keep it up, but it's gotten no tears yet despite the same canine treatment. The leaves still get in the water but stay on top of the net where I use a long handled dip net to pull them out every couple days. The water gets discolored brown but the problem of rotting leaves accumulating on the bottom (and robbing oxygen from the fish) is greatly reduced. I'll remove it once most of the leaves are down, another 2-3 weeks, dry and store it until next year. Hopefully I'll get a few season's use out of it.The material along the edges of the leaf net, as another review noted, is the plastic rain tarp type of material. Pretty cheap crinkly stuff. The way I'm using it, it makes no difference though. This cheaper material is my reason for the 4 star vs 5 star rating.

Sturdy enough, needs to lay on the water surface
The net appears sturdy enough, but it is meant to lie on the surface of the water, not be stretched tightly and lay parallel to the ground around the pool. This is what the instructions say and I don't think it'd be sufficiently robust to support that. This means that if you lower your pool's water level by 24 inches, you're losing about 48 inches on the surface it can cover. For example, the 18x36 barely covers my peanut-shaped 16x32 pool. Just something to be aware of. Remains a good value though.

Read the installation instructions to determine the correct size
This cover is quite inexpensive for its size. Luckily I ordered it large enough to install it as per the instructions included in the box. Oddly the photos seen on Amazon are both irrelevant and unhelpful. They show a cover over an inground pool that is pulled tight making a perfectly flat surface. The installation instructions clearly contradict such an installation showing that the cover must conform to the shape of the pool and lay flat on the lowered water level. If not installed this way the cover would rip over the winter, especially here in Canada with the weight of ice and snow. In addition other pictures show a finger winch and a cable on the perimeter. This is only applicable to above ground pool covers. As for other qualities like thickness and value for money, I'll only have an opinion after I've seen how many winters it lasts. Also I am fortunate to have only a 3 foot walkway around the pool and beyond that there is grass. So I use tent pegs and the loops that come with the cover at 4 foot intervals to hold the cover down

Strong mesh, holds its share, greatly reduces spring hassle!
We got a flash freeze last winter and we missed our opportunity to take it out. Held strong. Easley over 200+pounds of wet leafs, pulled it out no problems.Nb: the blue perimeter water tubes are definitely a good combination. We skipped them last year and used concrete blocks and wood boards, even if it's enough to hold it in place, helicopters and leafs find a way in all the cracks. Not the end of the world, but anything that pass under will have to be pulled out later. Help yourself and do it right. And it could save potential accidental damage to the pool liner.

Glad I bought it
So I read other reviews before I got it and glad I did at least for the size. I have a 16x32 pool and got the 20x40 net and it fits perfectly. As they say bigger is better. This will save me so much time next summer with the leaves. Should have ordered it a long time ago. Very Happy with purchase.
