My wife loves nugget ice and I debated about purchasing one of these for her. I visited some friends and they had one of these for a while and loved it. I still hesitated because some of the reviews mentioned it was loud and stopped working, but I finally pulled the trigger for Mother's day. It arrived upright in the box, which it says it needs to be for 24 hours before using, so we plugged it right in. We only used filtered water in it and it started making ice right away, though it took a couple of batches to get consistent. It does make a little noise, enough that you can tell when it is running, but isn't obnoxiously loud. We have had it for 6 months now, and we have unplugged it, moved it around, plugged it back in, several times, and we have had no issue with it turning back on and making good ice. We have been happy with it and have had no regrets purchasing this one.

This ice machine was great for about a month, but then we started running into issues. It finally kicked the bucket 3 months in, and I'm returning it. There is a really big design flaw with how the water is routed into the machine. There's two water reservoirs, one of which is in the back. This one in the back has 3 tubing areas that grow and house mold VERY WELL. It's really hard to get this machine clean. Another issue is it gets clogged while making ice very easily. It will start making this obnoxiously loud screeching sound periodically because ice is stuck in the machine. The only way to clear it out is to turn the machine off and let it all melt, or let it run a cleaning cycle with hot water. This was only a temporary fix as this would happen several times a week towards the end of its life. After 3 months, it finally just stopped making ice all together. It would say that it needed water despite being to the max level of water. I had the option of emailing the manufacturer, but with all the issues we've had, I opted for a return through Amazon. Pros: makes nice pebble ice, quiet (when functioning properly) fast Cons: does not make a lot of ice, really hard to clean thoroughly, only lasted about 1.5 months before starting to die, gets clogged easily, dies after 3 months of use

IMPORTANT; Before plugging it in, set it upright on a lever surface for 24 hours. The device ships on it’s side so the machine oil needs time to settle. I’m willing to be the reviews about awful noises are because this wasn’t done. It’s killed me to have to wait, but it was worth it. First thing the next day, like a kid on Christmas morning, I filled the reservoir and stared at the ice chute. Sure enough, it stared producing ice in just a few minutes. And the ice is wonderful! Small chewy bits of frozen goodness! I haven’t made 30 pounds of ice in one day, but I’m certain the machine is capable of it. There are two of us and we both love ice and lots of it. We’ve never run out. We’ve come close, but it only takes about 20 minutes and the bin is full again. It’s like a loud refrigerator and will get on your nerves if you have a great room with a kitchen. This is a negative for all portable ice machines. I doubt there is such a thing as a quiet portable ice maker. Plan on setting it up in a nearby room. We have ours in a stand in the laundry room. We’ve had ours for three months and absolutely love it! Very highly recommended! UPDATE: Silonn has great customer service! Three months past the warranty, our machine started acting up. I contacted customer service and heard back in less than 24 hours! They asked for a few pictures of the machine and the serial number. Again, in less than 24 hours, customer service informed us they were shipping us a replacement. We didn’t even have to return the broken machine. Not only that, they’re sending us a tracking number when it ships. Extraordinary! UPDATE: Ours had been running nonstop for almost two years and works just like it did when we set it up. We’ve been using distilled water. I clean it every six months or so. If you don’t use distilled water, clean it according to the manufacturer’s instructions. If you have hard water, even if you filter it, clean it at least as often as the manufacturer’s recommendations.

I have cravings to chew ice. When carrying each of my children I had the compulsion to chew ice. Now in my twilight years that compulsion has returned. The main problem is the damage to my teeth. This ice machine makes perfect ice for chewing if this ice machine lasts me a year it will have paid for itself in saved dental bills. I do not recommend it for parties or even dinner guests The ice melts quickly even in chilled water. I imagine it would be overworked trying to produce ice to keep soft drinks or alcohol drinks cold. It would definitely dilute your drinks too. I am guessing it will be more difficult in summer time. The machine is not commercial and it won't last very long if used in that manner. But for my purposes it's terrific

It's nice sized. It works well for me. It's quiet. I fill it with water and let it fill up with ice. I'm very happy with it.

Pregnancy cravings are the worst. So when you’re pregnant wife wants ice like Sonic but able to be made at home at any time of day/night, you go on the hunt for the right machine. And this is the machine. Easy to clean and use. The ice is a great size for drinks and for munching on. After researching tons of options I’m happy we chose this one. Great value compared to others out there and super easy to use (literally fill up and push a button). Holding up well to multiple daily uses. If you’re pregnant and craving ice or someone who wants a reliable ice maker, this is it. 10/10.

Worked well at first but it’s impossible to keep it from growing whatever that black/gray stuff is on the tray, insides and scooper. I used vinegar to clean it and now it won’t work. It makes a loud noise and smells like it’s burning.
