I bought this for my formerly feral cat...who reverts back to his feral ways at the vet. My old vet had this exact brand of "squeeze cage" and it worked perfectly for all vaccinations and exams. We have moved and the new vet didn't have a squeeze cage. I don't think it's a good idea to sedate an animal unless it is absolutely necessary. When vaccination time came up again, I called my old vet and they helped me locate this on Amazon. IT WORKS PERFECTLY. I did read all the reviews before I purchased it and I was concerned about "burrs" and scratchy spots on the cage. I checked it out thoroughly when it arrived and found no rough edges, nothing that would injure any animal. So, if that was an issue with this product obviously the manufacturer fixed the problem. I was with the cat for the entire exam and although he was his usual ticked-off self, he was contained securely and safely in the cage so he could not hurt himself or the vet or myself ! The vaccine is given right through the bars of the cage, no risk of him moving. As soon as it's over, the part of the cage that secures him is released and the cage is again the size of a large cat carrier. So you can transport your animal to and from the vet in this cage quite easily, and he never has to leave it. Less stress for all involved. So much quicker and safer than wrestling with a terrified animal. If your pet requires more than a simple vaccine, they can also sedate the animal through the cage. One tip the vet gave me; weigh the cage without the animal as soon as you get it and write the weight on the cage with a Sharpie marker. That way your vet can weigh your pet inside the cage and know your pet's exact weight minus the cage. This helps with any medication prescribed or sedation if necessary. This works exactly as it's supposed to and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Came with too many sharp edges; the staff and doctor were repeatedly injured by use of this cage until someone took it home and dremeled off the edges. This also caused it to "catch" at inappropriate times and not smoothly operate, further increasing staff exposure to fractious animals. The doctor required antibiotics one time for the wounds inflicted using this and still has scars. In addition, this review is coming from staff with over 15 years' experience.

Size rating is incorrect, imho. This is for small racoons and cats. 10# or so. Five kilo. My 30# late tabby just laughs at it.

For one thing, the cage was much smaller than I thought. It said for a raccoon or large cat; hardly would anything other than an average sized house cat fit in this cage. But the worst part is that the cage had many, many sharp corners, the base pan had very sharp edges, and the cage was overall flimsy. On the way to the vet my cat sustained multiple small lacerations to her head and feet. I took my young serval cat to the vet for her spay surgery. At that time she only weighed 21 pounds and could barely fit in this cage. Overall I was very disappointed in the cheaply made cage and would have returned it if I had not used the cage.

I was concerned when I read the only review on this product and it said that the cage came with lots of sharp metal edges. So I contacted the manufacture and got an email back from the owner telling me that they have spent a lot of time and money to be sure the cages were deburred before shipping. Based on his assurance, I ordered this squeeze cage. I inspected it carefully upon arrival and found no sharp edges anywhere.It is well built, simple to use and gets the job done. I now have the tool I need to take my Egyptian street cat to the vets and get his shots! Thanks Tomahawk Live traps.

Carrier arrived with severe sharp edges everywhere. I spent two hours deburring it with my dremel. This cage is down rightdangerous. There are better carriers with coated wires for your animals safety so dont buy this one.

I am a rehabber and this will save me so much time trying to medicate or even just assess a wild raccoon.
