the idea of the game is great, which child doesn't like fishing games! the game is made of nice quality materials and looks bright and colourful. there are only 2 fishing rods and 2 plastic boards for letters. so only 2 children can play it.there's plenty of small cards with basic words in 4 languages, plus a nice colourful picture. however, the cards and letters are on a small side.there's a fishing rod made of wood but the bottom part is hard to keep still and it sways a lot, which is very frustrating for younger children - you aim for one letter but the rod picks up a different one.there's also a plastic card with pictures of fish on, where you put you 'fished-out' letter to make a word. good idea but what's very confusing is that you have 8 fish pictures but 10 numbers written above them? so a child wants to count the number of letters, eg. 6 but if she looks at the numbers on a card it can be 7 or 8. not much help.my 4 year old likes playing with this game but it's not the game that would keep them busy for hours.

As an EFL teacher I have found this game an excellent way to consolidate the alphabet as it was being learnt. It can then be used to test spelling or introduce new words. Even the kids who aren't keen on learning can't resist playing this game.Undoubtedly would be great fun also for children growing up in an all-English environment,too.A very worthwhile buy.

When I received this Fish N Spell Game I was really impressed with the quality of this product, the only downside are the small cardboard cards where you put the letters on, looks on the thin side, could of done with being laminated really, but apart from that I would definitely recommend it to anyone, my 5 year old little boy loves playing with it!

This was a Christmas present for my daughters and from the start the rods were not really sticky enough to pick the letters up. Today is our third attempt and it is useless. There is much frustration from children and Nanny who have just given up, we'll be returning. Terrible buy and product certainly not fit for purpose or as described.

What a lovely game for youngsters learning their alphabet

This was bought for our 6 year old granddaughter. She particularly likes the choice of words in different languages. It has become one of her favourite games.

Bought this for my nephew aged 8. Really liked the idea of the fishing (as he already plays fishing on the Nintendo Wii!!) and also really helps with spelling. Little brother aged 5 also enjoyed playing. It can be a bit slow paced but with the competition to get the word first it helps. It would be better if it had more fishing rods and scoreboards for other players though.

Superb game - our 4 year old is just at the stage of starting to spell words and this is just perfect. Lots of fun and we always try to have a game before bedtime.
