Great bike computer, simple but functional
I bought this for my daughter, and I have to say I’m really impressed with how well it works. It may not have all the bells and whistles that my Garmin Edge has, but she doesn’t need all of those features yet.The app is quite impressive too, and allows her to see all of her rides, with maps and data.Overall this a great little bike computer for the price, and I would definitely recommend it if navigation is not required. GPS works really well, and the accuracy is reasonably good, when compared with my Garmin.

Unit is great, works as expected
Final edit with longer term review.I thought it was worth adding to my original review with my thoughts after using the cycle computer for 6 months. It's still working perfectly, I have found it finds the GPS signal quicker if I turn the unit on outside then press start, it then beeps as ready within 2 minutes, usually much less. It's around 90% accurate, in as much that I can see on the app which side of a roundabout I went round, but there are the occasional times I'm apparently riding through houses. This is usually when there are obstructions to the sky like trees on the route. The GPS signal receiver is OK, but does get unhinged easily.I use it in parallel with a withings watch app which I then upload to strava, the distance covered by the watch and the cycle computer are essentially the same, give or take 100 meters.Ive used it for nearly 1200 miles now, the battery has lasted very well, only needing to be charged once or twice a month. While cycling at night the display is back-lit, this doesn't appear to drain the battery much faster. The unit is stand alone and does not require any cables to the wheel or measuring the distance of a wheel rotation, I use it on my bike but it could easily be used on a scooter or anything mobile really. Distance is measured by GPS signal not wheel sensors. The handle bar mount is as solid as when first installed, it takes a bit of effort to unmount the unit, by rotating anti clockwise, but nothing has broken or worn out.Overall I'm still very happy with it.Edited and now 4* reviewThere has been an update to the android app since my original review, and this appears to have resolved the connection issues. The unit will not synch while it is in the GPS on mode, it has to be stopped or power cycled before attempting to sync.GPS is not that strong, for example it will struggle to display your accurate speed while cycling under trees, but it does still manage to keep the location accurate on the map afterwards.Battery charge lasts for ages. For just a few pounds more than a wireless bike computer, this GPS unit did seem like a bargain. And it is.It found my location quickly, and tracked my speed, distance and time moving accurately. It paused when I did and stayed on for the whole of my rides. So why only 3 stars? It is severely let down by the Android app - simple things like remembering which unit you have so you don't have to connect to it every time, it doesn't do. But the most frustrating bit is the constant failing to synchronise. I did nearly give up, rebooted the unit and my phone a number of times, when suddenly it connected and synchronised my 3 trips. Once that was done I was then able to see detailed routes mapped out on a Google map, with average speeds, top speeds, heights climbed etc. Zooming in, I was even able to see which way round I went on a roundabout - very detailed. You also need to have the app connected to set the units from metric to imperial. If the app worked it would easily be a 5 star product, if the developer sorts this out with an update, I will revise my review accordingly.I'm keeping it as I know its quirks now and can live with them

Poor Battery
It was a good product while it worked but battery failed after 9 months of intermittent use. The battery fails to re-charge rendering the unit useless.

Such a shame
I was looking for a speedometer for my brompton, but didn't really want to run wires. Wireless technology didn't work as although the brompton is a small, commuter bike, the distance between the handlebars and the front wheel is surprisingly long so the wireless sensors just wouldn't work and would suffer interference when I turned the lights on. So I thought this would be ideal. The product looks good, easy to setup (although instructions are one of the worst I have seen) and the screen was easy to read. Although the supplied mounting bracket wasn't that great, it was easy to install and effective.Unfortunately, that's where my good experiences ended. The app was a nightmare and failed more than it worked. That didn't really worry me too much as I only really used the app to change the units to mph. If this was possible on the unit, then I wouldn't have needed the app at all.The worst thing about the unit is the GPS and this was a complete showstopper for me. I commute on my bike including a train journey. Every time I turned the unit on, it would take quite a while to acquire a GPS signal. My commute after the train is about 2 miles. I would be almost half the way there before the unit would start working. It would also completely drop out when going under bridges or if you were around tall buildings. I would say that out of my 5 mile each way total commute I would be lucky if the unit was functional for half that time.I got the extra bracket as well. Although the bracket was ok in itself, it seems to be designed to fit very large diameter handlebars and even fully tightened would just spin round on my handlebars, even if I installed it over the grips. They do not provide any shims or any way of making it smaller so I never ended up using it. If it wasn't for the very poor GPS performance I would have probably kept the unit and made up some shims for the bracket, but with the kind of GPS performance I was getting, there simply wasn't a solution and the unit was unusable.

A one year review
I have used this cycling computer for about a year now. For someone who was just getting into cycling this was exactly what I needed. Your basic data is all there and is relativity accurate. Only issue is speed (it doesn’t like going under trees). It is also water resistant evidenced by many rides in the rain. The app is fine and allows you to upload your rides to Strava. If you want to get into cycling this is perfect, especially at the price point. However, if you are looking for a cycling computer that’ll help you progress and last past a one year period then do not buy this. It has become noticeably slower in picking up gps signal at the start of a ride and does not, at times, accurately show your ride. It has done for the most part though. This is very annoying if you start competing for Strava segments. Although context is key - I’ve become fitter and more competitive so moving on to something better is the next move. For someone who doesn’t want to bother with Strava segments etc then do not worry!Overall, for the price this is a great cycling computer and would probably last longer with lighter use. Despite some of its issues I do not regret buying it at all.

After a tear of use...
Have been using the xoss g for just over a year now so I thought a good time to leave a review. Overall, it's a fantastic little unit for the money, and I have no regrets in my purchase. I've had a couple of rides showing slightly inconsistent routes, but the system upgrades around the start of this year seem to have fixed that issue (there was a New Year bug which meant the unit didn't function for a few days but they were pretty rapid at fixing it). As others have mentioned, it doesn't really like trees, and your speed reading will become inaccurate under cover, but it keeps track of your route/time so no biggie for me.Only issues I have had are when I bought this I had quite an old phone which only ran Android 6 - and a few months after the purchase they upgraded the firmware.. and it no longer supported Android 6, which meant I had to borrow a friends phone to upload my rides until I got a new phone. The other is I wish I would remember your head unit instead of having to identify every time you launch the app, but really this is just a couple of extra taps.
