CAP Barbell 150-lb Hex Dumbbell Weight Set with Horizontal Rack

I ordered the set with the horizontal stand instead of the tower and have had no issues with the sturdiness of the stand. Assembly was fairly easy, however mine didn't come with a tool to tighten the nuts so I had to go digging through my husband's tool chest and fortunately found what was needed. It was also note- worthy that there is a mandatory warning on the manufacturer's website about cancer causing chemicals used in the production of this weight set and there was a strong chemical smell after pulling the weights out of their boxes so I'd recommend letting them air out for a day or two before use, and use workout gloves if you're still worried. Otherwise this is a great product so far! Not as expensive as other sets like these but they serve their purpose just fine for workouts, both for me and my husband. Recommended.

This is a great set of barbells for the money!! They came in packaged very well in 4 separate boxes. The boxes with the weights were a thicker cardboard so everything came intact with no damage. The barbells did smell but were not greasy. I immediately washed them in soap and water which really didn't take the smell away that much but over 4 days time, the smell has subsided greatly with each passing day. The metal stand is very good quality and sturdy. Using the shipped hex wrench with an adjustable wrench (to clamp onto the nut) to get the nuts and bolts attached is the labor intensive part but really not bad. The nuts aren't supposed to screw on with your hands beyond a certain point. That's what the hex wrench combined with an adjustable wrench is for. Just takes a bit of time and muscle. Highly recommend this set!

Great set for the money! I searched everywhere and every site and this deal can’t be beat. Perfect for my little home gym. Note, it will seem as though the bolts are too long, or wrong size bolts given (as others stated). I actúa had contacted Cap to request new bolts. Got the same size. So off to the hardware store i went with the rack and bolts, where the salesman explained the bolts were the right size, i just needed to keep threading it through the nylon (I think) peice. Duh! Just get a wrench and hold the net while you thread. The weights did have a rubber smell. I had read previous reviews about the smell, so right out of the box i first cleaned them with dish soap and warm water then dried them with a towel. Cut down on smell and within a couple days smell disappeared.

They're packed nicely but delivery was delayed a bit. Initially, I thought I had the same bolts & nuts issues like another reviewer was asking in question lines. So I contacted CAP customer service about it. They actually responded quickly and told me that I just need a tool to hold one side and the bolt needs to pass that end of locknut. Well, thanks to my hubby who is quite handy and has lots of sorts tools. He used 17mm socket wrench and Voila, he assembled it so quickly and easily. He told me that I should’ve asked first instead of trying to do it all by myself :DNow I am a happy camper! The only negative thing I can say is that the rack had a big scratch and one part paints was already scratched off.I thought I purchased a new one....why? QA control issues? At this point, I can say that not that much a big deal though I prefer no scratch for a brand new items I ordered. So with all that said, I still think it’s a pretty good value product with that price.

I can't believe the complaints on smell. It's so easy. We had a small ice cream bucket of soapy water and a rag when we got these (based on feedback from reviewers). Yes you open the box and the rubber has a smell to it and it seems oily on most of them. But I also ordered 5 other sets of dumbbells and a big rack, to complete a whole set all the way to 60 lbs. Even another brand of dumbbells has the same odor and oil. You simply take 20 seconds to wipe the dumbbell off with the rag and then place on the rack which I had assembled prior to even opening the dumbbells. The rack has 10 screws or less, it took 10 minutes and the dumbbell cleaning took under 3 minutes for all of them. You spend the majority of your time opening the well packed boxes so the dumbbells don't tear through them due to their weight. All in all, it's a fantastic purchase. With the rack included, it's tough to beat.

I had this on my list for about a year. It’s great for keeping your weights/gym organized and it takes up little space. I can get through a workout much faster than when I was using Weider Weights which were better when I lived in a condo and had no gym space. I’m still putting together my gym area in the basement so I have a lot of random stuff cluttering the space but you get the idea. I had no issues with anything. The weights are great and well constructed. They are oily at first which preserves the rubber but I just wiped the handles to get most off and the other came off over time. I didn’t want the iron dumbbells because I didn’t want to worry about cracking a floor tile. Def a good buy if you are looking for a set.

I like this product because they are great weights, same ones I have used in gyms for years. The stand is so nice to have for all of my weights - I purchased the two shelving type (I was able to add the additional weights I already have on top of the new ones). It's so organized. I saw reviews regarding the smell - I like weird odors like new shoes and such so I actually like the new smell! I saw reviews that the A-Frame had minimal hand space for removing and replacing the weights so I opted for the alternate as it allows more space and I can stack extra weights. It was super easy to put together - my five and seven year old daughters helped me and we had it done in less than 10 minutes. Altogether great product. Thanks!
