I really like this microphone
Review of the Nicama Lavalier LVM1 microphoneI really like this microphone. Is this a broadcast quality microphone? NoIs it sufficient quality to make videos and podcasts? Yes, more than sufficient. Is it worth the money? Yes it isI bought it a couple of weeks ago because I needed to record an instructional series of videos. I didn't want to use the microphone in the laptop as it picks up too much background noise which is something you don't really want to have on an instructional or educational video. Using the LVM1 means the sound is a lot better. You may need to experiment with the best location for the microphone but that's just general trial and error that you would have to do with any audio recording equipment. It comes with a battery in place and a spare. It also has a long cable. You can use the microphone not only for recording videos but also for dictating . I am currently using it to dictate this review in Microsoft Word. Having the microphone on a lapel means you can sit back to dictate. You are not required to lean forward in order for the microphone on the laptop to pick up your voice .I did learn that it is better on my PC to leave the Mic switched off for using in Microsoft Word or in PowerPoint.I recorded the instructional video using the free OBS Studio software and I found that I didn't need it switched on either. I have used it with Audacity Audio software and you can use it with both the power on and off in that program.I have only used it on a laptop as I have no need to use it on a smartphone so I cannot comment on its use with a mobile phone. If you intend to use this microphone along with earphones or headphones you will need to get an adapter if you only have a singular input on your laptop. Be warned that you need to get a connector or an adapter that will take a TRRS connector for the microphone input. If you use Skype, Zoom or other messaging service you may find the people that you're calling or meeting with find it more pleasant to have you wearing a lapel mic rather than the mic on your laptop.if you are wanting to enter the world of YouTube videos or other such platforms you may find this a worthwhile investment to see how well you get on with making a video. You can spend in excess of £100 on a microphone plus purchasing video\editing software. You may then find out you're not really getting on or getting anywhere making videos so buy this microphone if you want to do some trial work. You might even find that the quality you get from it is more than sufficient for your needsI will point out that recording anything using a microphone also depends on the acoustics of where you are making the recordings. My laptop is situated in a corner of a room so there is a wall directly in front of me and to my left. To increase the quality of the sound in general I have a duvet that is hanging off the wall because it stops the sound bouncing off the wall. If you buy this Nicama Lavalier and it sounds echoey it probably isn't the microphone. It will probably be due to the acoustics.

If you're looking for a mic to use with iPad or phone buy one of these!
Due to the Covid-19 lock down we now record our church services for You Tube and Facebook. We mix our audio on GarageBand and use iMovie to build the final video. We're producing really good quality music but have really been struggling with getting good audio quality when folks use their iPads or phones for recording video's. Even with post production it's been difficult to get a comparable sound to the music. I thought it would be worthwhile trying to find a cheap tie-pin mic that could plug into an iPad or phone to see if we could improve the sound before investing in a more expensive mic and found the Nicama LV1 on Amazon. I wasn't expecting miracles (excuse the pun) however I was amazed at the immediate improvement we got when we used it with the Pastor this week. No more echo, much less background noise (we occasionally get helicopters flying over) and very little "tweaking" of the eq required. I'm so impressed with this mic that I'm going to try and persuade everyone who is going to be producing content to invest in one.The build quality is very good, it comes well packaged complete with 1/4" adaptor, wind shield, tie clip and a spare battery. It even comes in a neat drawstring pouch to store everything safely. The 6m cable also lets you get well back from the ipad or phone without losing sound quality so it's easier to frame your video. We use Sennheiser radio mics in our normal services and although the LV1 isn't the same quality It provides a more than acceptable sound. Way above it's price bracket! I'd highly recommend this mic for anyone using phones or tablets to produce video clips. One of our musicians plays flute and currently records on a hand held dictaphone. I'm going to see if we can use this mic to improve what we're getting from her.The only thing the mic doesn't come with is a 3.5mm to lightning connector but as most folks will already have one for their iPhones it shouldn't be a problem. As it's only the first week of using the mic I've no idea how well it'll last but the build quality seems pretty solid so it should be able to put up with a fair bit of abuse. I'll update this review in a couple of months.

works, but not great when used directly on windows PC
Bought this mic for zoom calls and video presentations. It works, but for some reason the sound quality is not great on windows PC. Better on camera and ipad.

Brilliant microphone and outstanding value for money
Having used many microphones of varying quality and price in different environments over the last 30 years, I didn't have high expectations of the LVM1. Boy was I wrong! It's fantastic for my requirements - primarily tutorials and reviews on YouTube.Audio quality is excellent (better than many 'top brands' I've tried in recent weeks), brilliant gain and generally outstanding value for money.I've used it in two environments so far (see pics); indoors in a large(ish) dining kitchen and outdoors in a field on a very windy day. In the first instance not a pop or crackle and in the second, using the supplied dead cat, same applied. I experimented with the positioning for a while and found best positions in each situation were as per the photos.Any criticisms? The standard windshield comes off very easily and I suspect I will lose it sooner rather than later (a spare supplied as standard would be a nice touch) and the dead cat is very difficult to get on. I had to fight with its opening for it to fit over the microphone, I feel it's a touch too small.Having said that, I can cope with both of these niggles and they don't warrant giving the LVM1 anything less than a 5 star review.Buy with absolute confidence!

Good Sound Quality for the Price.
Sound quality is good. I compared it with the Boya equivalent and it is not for away from that item, which I rate. For the price this cannot be faulted.
