Q: Will these qork on a 45degree miter cut for a picture frame?

Yes, but you will need an extra set of hands to hold the pieces together while you align and tighten the clamps. I just used them to join 1x12 red oak cut at a 45 degree angle and they worked well to insure a 90 degree angle. although I wish they were a bit longer. Overall I'm happy with the product.
