If you hand these to 3-year-olds who bang them on the easel, then the answer will be NO. For regular people the fine point lasts a long time.

So I know it says 12 black markers for $6.74 but there is an option to buy 1 pack and a 12 pack. So is the 1 pack 1 marker or 12?

I have bought the one pack, and it was a pack of a dozen markers. So, if you buy the twelve pack, you will be getting 144 markers. The twelve I bought (through the 1 pack) have lasted well, write clearly, and don't smell at all! Recommended, definitely.
