Even as an herbalist, there are times we forget about some of the old herbs that are so powerful for our well-being until we're reminded by something as simple as a T.V. show like "Moonshiners" to remind us of this amazing herb. Tim's father used to make Rock and Rye elixir, which I had never heard of, but they spent the episode trying to remember how to make and, basically did. Horehound rock candy is a great cough lozenge for winter or anytime you have a cough. It's also the "Rock" in Rock and Rye elixir. This is a great size bag that seems very fresh and smells delicious. Horehound has so many health benefits. It's an anti-inflammatory, supports the immune system, supports respiratory health, soothes cough, etc. I like adding Star Anise for the added licorice flavor and respiratory health benefits. Or Cardamom and mint for a sweeter minty flavor for lollipops to make it more palatable for children. With this big of supply, I'll be making lozenges, lollipops, Rock and Rye elixir, adding it to my Fire Cider, and everything else I can think of. It's a great value for the quantity and quality you get. If you put the herb in brown Mason Jars and use a vacuum sealer, or put it in Mylar bags with oxygen removers, the herbs stay fresh forever. It's the best two ways to preserver your herbs. I always keep some out separately for my tea blends and pull more out as needed and re-seal or add more oxygen removers.

Fresh. Tastes awful, just like it should! The real deal. Just what I was looking for.

Good horehound but there is a huge amount of small sticks mixed in that need to be sifted out. It's not a ready to drink out of the bag item. Still for the price it's a good deal.

The quality of the leave are better than I expected and I am fully satisfied with Monterey Bay Herb Co. quality of spices and teas. I've order from them directly and through Amazon, which was delivered quicker than purchasing direct.
