I bought this for my crews to use on retrofit installs and we have been absolutely amazed at how much time it has saved us. When having to remove some decking on the second floor to get wires ran for a home theater on the first floor it was impossible to figure out where to cut the flooring. The house had a 12' porch overhang at the front of the home plus large soffits but the room above went out over the porch by several feet so trying to measure this entire thing out and then subtract would have taken sometime. Not with this cool little gadget we simply placed the transmitter on the ceiling in the area of the first speaker then went upstairs and started walking around and once all four arrows were lined up we marked the floor. We then cut the speaker hole and opened up the section of flooring upstairs while the renovation was going on and our speaker was dead on right below where we had made our mark. No time wasted measuring, no time having to figure out if we were in the right place, just dead on accuracy. We had another project where we were retrofitting in a 10’’ pipe for a large vent hood during a huge kitchen remodel and the ceiling in the garage was lower than the ceiling in the kitchen but not by much. We had about 12'' to play with and needed a 10¼” hole, this didn’t leave a lot of room for error and if we got it too high then we would have had to used 2x4's to raise the pipe up off the rafters in the garage. This was an old home with plaster walls and stone. This thing worked great and we were able to find the exact spot to cut the hole so that we came out right on with the pipe. When finished it laid right on top of the ceiling joist without having to use any shims or any bracing, when finished we simply used our hanger strap to fasten it down. It looked like it was put in when the day the house was built 70 plus years ago it was so perfect, without this little gadget it would not have happen so quickly and we would not have been able to figure out where to drill the hole so dead on. In the past it would have involved several inspection holes and a lot of measuring. It was all reduced to about an 8 min project before we were cutting in our large hole. We had another project that we had to drill a hole for a 1¼” black iron gas pipe and needed to be hidden behind a gutter pipe at the back corner of the home. Very tricky measuring, but with this tool we simply placed the transmitter outside on the exact place where we wanted the hole to come out then went into the basement above the drop ceiling and located the spot. My guys were blown away when the hole they drilled came out dead on; also this was a solid poured concrete basement wall with large stone cemented on the other side so total thickness through solid concrete and stone was about 14” to 15” inches. The only thing we found it won’t work on is metal but that's because its uses magnets and we all know how much magnets like metal. We have been really happy with this tool and I will be buying more to keep on other trucks in the future. Simply put if you have to drill any holes through any material expect METAL then you need this reference point locator. There is simply no real leaning needed you just place the tip were you want the hole to come out line up the 4 arrows on the other side and drill, it’s that easy.

I should’ve bought this sooner honestly. I wasn’t sure if it would live up to the hype but it really does and has save me so much time and time is money. This also saves us the trouble and embarrassment of making an incorrect drill hole. I do camera and WiFi installs. This makes it easy to find where to drill. I’ve used it through brick and cinderblock with no issue. Makes it easy to find spots to fill from the attic or basements as well. Those saying it’s not accurate my not have figured out how to use it right. We’ve found it’s very accurate within an inch at least. The trick is to go slow and keep it flat. There’s definitely a little touch to using it. I practiced with it inside on two different sides of a door to get a feel for how it reads. It’s a neat tool and makes it super easy to find drill locations without having to measure and find reference points, etc...

Magnepull The problem. A large 6000 ft.² ranch house which required cat five cable. There was a single main router location from which a base station distributed to multiple satellite base stations connected wirelessly. I recently purchased high speed internet service. With all the new devices, a PlayStation, Internet connected televisions, Cloud backups and the length of the property, I was seeing no real increase in speed on speed test.net. I was getting sick of seeing the Netflix wheel spinning. I knew the only way to increase the speed was to put a wired backbone down the length of the house connecting all the wireless base stations, PlayStation and Apple televisions. There are plenty of sites on the Internet showing how to do this. It is big time faster than connecting them wirelessly. For the small bit of effort the payoff has been huge. I have laid cable and electric in a number of houses. Despite the complexity of the house, multiple subsequent renovations, a new double brick endwall and several false ceilings this was the easiest run by far. Obviously I had all the usual cable running tools available including fish tape and extension rods. The difference was that this time I had a Magnepull and Magnespot available. These two devices saved around 30 -50 percent of the time and a huge amount of the stress. Yes I did balk a little ( lot )at the cost, but cable laying is not my day job and evening time is limited. I looked around on Craigslist but none available. If this was my day job, I would want these devices even more. They save multiple additional cutouts in the drywall, I always had a very good idea of where the end of the cable was and when it came to putting a through hole in a double brick end partition, the Magnespot is dead accurate. My longest uninterrupted run, 37 feet over two levels, way more than I could get with rods. I did not even have to get into the ceiling. I had read the review online regarding using a fish tape to guide the Magnepull. A lot of our house is insulated with cellulose fiber. Rafters would often block the device as it fell between the rafters. This is where the Magnepull really came into its own. You run the tape from the cellulose insulation. Then connect the Magnepull and the device will sit on the tape and not fall between the rafters. This save tons of time, tons of stress and minimized contact with icky cellulose cellulose. Some Tips: 1. On one occasion the Magnepull detached from the nylon string. Got to blame my poor knots. I had also purchased the Magnespot. I was able to easily locate the maximum magnetic point and carefully cut a small hole through the drywall in this location. It was bang on. I was very pleased to see my Magnepull back. The job was only one third done. 2. Our house is built on slightly different levels. There is a 14-inch step. Because of the step I needed to run the device along one wall, secured temporarily in position and then run it up the opposite side of the wall. Securing it temporarily in position posed a problem. One option would be to buy another Magnepull. I elected to purchase some Neodynium magnets online. Having got the bullet into the ideal position on one wall, I used the magnets to secure it in position temporarily. Then I could remove the roller, walk around to the extraction side of the wall, attach the roller magnetically and remove the magnets. I could then complete the run to the extraction point. The Magnespot came into its own when running the cable through the walls. With the multiple different renovations in the property it was sometimes difficult to determine where the corresponding point on a wall was. There were several sections of false wall or additional covering. On several occasions I ran the cable for the top plate of the roof and dropped it into the wall. I was able to bring it out and a discrete point on one side of the renovation. Using the Magnespot I could then locate the corresponding point on the opposite side of the renovation. This saved me from making several mistakes. All of the Cat5 through points have been cut in the drywall at exactly the height of the existing outlets and have been covered with blank electrical wall plates. This has made my wife a lot happier. It's not ruined her great room. Having completed the task, what a huge difference in network speed I am seeing. Communication with the nearest base station is just as fast but communication with the main router is now dramatically faster, webpages just appear and count upwards and backups take one third of the time. There is a single network throughout the whole house with all deadspots gone and one less basestation used. On Speedtest, I am getting what my ISP promises, both upload and download. It's always great when a device delivers on what it promises.

It works perfectly to find the exact spot to drill. The inside unit has a significant vibration that shakes it off the wall if you're not quick.

I am a fiber installer & require on every job to drill though customers walls. This devise is my go to when drilling though brick because you have to go from outside in, that way you don’t damage the brick. ❌ On my 5th use with this it didn’t get a precise drill. I still don’t know why my drill was SO off from the location needed. Always should double check the location before drilling. ✅ I haven’t seen any other issues with this product since, seems it must’ve been something in the wall that was throwing my location off. ⭐️ Overall this product has been great & makes my job SO much easier, stress free & kills so much time so I don’t have to measure the entire house for a blank wall when needed to drill. It has a nice small case allowing for mobile use & protection from drops & environment. I strongly recommend this product for work or personal home drilling to prevent damages. 💡 SIDE NOTE: When placing in the drywall always place close to your drill not right on it so you don’t drill into the device damaging it. You should also always be aware of your interior wall to prevent damaging power, water or gas

There are 'bread & butter' tools that belong in ever weekend warrior's arsenal, like the circular saw, cordless drill, and tape measure, and then there are the fancier tools that you can get by without, but they sure do make completing whatever's on the Honey-Do list significantly easier and faster. One of the first tools I purchased in this latter category was a video inspection camera that allowed me to look in inaccessible places such as down drains and behind drywall. I toyed with the idea of purchasing this camera for months, and when I finally ended up pulling the trigger, and saw how much easier it made my life, I promised I would never delay purchasing another 'fancier tool' in the future should the need arise. Well, the need arose recently when I was required to drill a series of holes in an external wall and have them open up at specific places. Enter the MagneSpot XR1000: Just place the transmitter at the location where you want the hole to appear, then take the receiver inside the house, press the button, and move it until all 4 arrows are lit. BINGO. You've found the EXACT location where to drill. It couldn't be easier. Just a word of caution: The XR1000 is so accurate that you'd be well advised to mark the location where you're going to drill, then go outside and remove the transmitter otherwise you'll damage it with the drill bit as it exits the wall!! If the usefulness of a tool can be judged by how many times friends and family ask to borrow it, then the MagneSpot XR1000 is one of the top tools I own. Again, this is certainly not one of your bread & butter tools, and you might need it just once or twice a year, but when you do, and IF you don't have a buddy to borrow it from, then it's absolutely worth it's weight in gold.
