Will alkaline battery damage the clock mechanism?

In my experience, alkaline batteries are suitable for use with this mechanism. Due to the low level power draw required for normal operation, the lifecycle of the battery's power may be extended. I suggest a periodic visual review to assure there is no failure or leakage from the battery's protective outer jacket.

Is the hook removable?

we routed back to fit mechanism flush, just left hook, we installed a wire to hang.

What size hole do I need to drill for these clock works?

I would order the unit before drilling the hole.

I have a clock with minute handle 13.75" and hour handle at 11.5". Will this model work or do you recommend a different product?

So, you are losing a couple of inches. On my clock, these handles look really good - the previous handles were much thicker and wider. However, I like these much better. You are going to lose the most length on the hour hand. I guess it depends on how big your clock face is. These "hands" are thin and look very classy on my clock and because they are lighter, the batteries are lasting MUCH longer as well. My clock is probably 24 - 26 inches in diameter
