Not as pictured
Evidently the manufacturer does not have quality control from reading the reviews - some are great but others are not as pictured. Of my 4, 2 have flaws, but are at the ends. I will try my best to get 4 beautiful pens, so wish me luck. Bob. Returned the wood blanks and received the 4 replacement ones and they are just as pictured! Great grain and color. I am happy now. Quality blanks best for slimline
The blanks came as advertised. The certificate of authenticity cards were flimsy but still nice enough to include if you sold your pen. The blanks are a perfect size for slimeline/ 7mm size pen projects. I used them for a larger 12.5mm and 10mm based fountain pen and had 2 blow outs during drilling. The 3rd blank finally held up for turning. The quality is there I would suggested slimmer pens. Great finish with pens plus and sanding up to 800 grit.

Great product
The wood smelled just like olives and all blanks were highly figured. Makes a great pen and turned well. I hope the pens do not lose their olive smell.....lol

Strong, smells unique
I generally use Koa wood for my woodwork. However, I really loved the strength and scent of this wood. It smells like fresh olives. I didn’t have any problems with inconsistencies or dry spots. I was able to drill a 1/4” drill bit (along the grain) on a 1/2” x 1/2” piece. Maybe I’m not making sense... but with Koa and softer woods I have to work my way up to that or it cracks.... this wood held sturdy.

Great patterns, but to wet to work.
Like the title says I got some beautiful pieces, but they are too wet to turn. I might be able to dry them in the oven and speed the drying up, but the safest way would be to let it sit and dry for at least 3 months, but most likely 6-12 month before it is in ideal condition to turn. This is unfortunately not going to work for the Christmas present I was going to make it into, which is why I can't fully recommend this. But if you have plenty of time to wait, this might be ok for you. Like I said I received some pieces with beautiful grain patterns, and much to my displeasure I will have to shelve these for another project down the road.

Not premium quality
Two of the four pieces were of good quality, premium grade as described, but the other two were very substandard. Unable to return just two blanks, so all 4 had to go back. I re-ordered and the next batch contained 4 premium grade pieces
