Q: Is the back sturdy enough to use to pull yourself up from sitting position?

I went and tested it out, you can pull yourself up while bracing yourself on the back support. Be aware that it is on wheels and the seat does rotate. Having bad knees, I never considered using this option to raise myself up from sitting. That's a good question and definitely helps my situation and hope it works for you.

For your purpose of cleaning baseboards, it might have tendency to move and bending over to reach the baseboard might be uncomfortable, and depending on whether you are flexible and not cumbered by abdominal mass. The wheels are a smooth plastic and not rubber, so I don't know if it would scratch the hardwood floor. If I needed to clean baseboard, I would use a child's step stool for stability sake.
