Everyone else is asking for their own now. The majority of the exterior is a cool smooth metallic feel, but it also has contrasting rougher grooves cut into the metal. This provides tactile input. When you spin it, you also get the visual input with a focal point or relaxation as it spins.

The media could not be loaded. Probably like everyone else I viewed the online videos of this item before ordering it myself, and when I did I thought, "gee, that's quite lovely." And then mine arrived, and sitting on my table it actually looks lovelier!I took it into our home office to show my wife, placing it on the desk and giving it a spin. She gestured to remove it not because it wasn't captivating, but because it was too captivating! She knew she'd while away her time staring at it.It's a little smaller than I had realized, but that's actually fine. I'd say it's roughly the size of a golf ball.It doesn't take much to get it spinning, and in fact I prefer a slower spin as it displays its mesmerizing effect more vividly that way.It is solid, and heavier than it would appear. I can see setting this on a coffee table and giving it a spin just to see guest reactions. In a day when toys have become increasingly complicated and complex this reminds us that sometimes simpler is better. This is as much a piece of art as it is a toy. Hard to feel stressed when taking in the visual show this toy produces. And it goes on for quite a while on a single flick of the wrist (no cables, wires or batteries required!)

The media could not be loaded. This thingie is super cool. It is much smaller than I thought maybe – but it is still cool. It spins nicely on any flat even surface. I tried spinning it in my hand but the footprint is too small to clear the curves of the palm. I was able to close my fist and spin it on the back of my hand. Once I am not fisted – my hand is not flat enough for it and it stops. It spins for a while actually which is neat and you can spin in it either direction for a different effect. My cat wanted to see it as she sat on the couch. So, I flipped my TV remote over so it was flat and spun it on the back. My cat was truly mesmerized and watched it for a bit before gently swatting it. I spun it again and this time she stopped it with her nose. The build quality and aesthetics of this toy spinner would not be out of place on an executive office desk. The heft of it is impressive as it feels like it is mostly if not all metal. I have the light blue color and it looks fantastic with its shimmery, glossy surface. The metal shiny stripes look great on their own as well.The spinning ability is very good. It will spin for a long time with a simple twist. The base has a rubber anti-slip pad. Because of the spiral stripes, it creates a mesmerizing optical illusion. There is only one thing this little toy does but it does it well and beautifully.

I got several of this kinectic spinners a few years ago. They sit on my desk still since they are some of my favorite fidgets and look good as desk jewelry, too. This rainbow one is my new favorite since the ombre colors add to the spinning and mesmerizing effect. It spins well and looks great. My other ones have held up great for years and I expect this one will do the same.
