If I have this plugged into a fresh 9 volt battery, about how many hours will it stay lit before needing to change the battery? Thank you.

Hi In the listing product description it says "Operating time from a new 9V battery is typically greater than 24 hours.". On the technical side a new alkaline 9V battery has a typical rating of 500 milliamp hours, a single MEL-BL light draws about 20 milliamps at 9 volts, the 500 milliamp hour battery capacity divided by current draw equals out to 25 hours. As the battery drains the voltage drops and the current draw from the light drops also, estimating an exact run time is some what difficult. It should run for 12 hours at a fairly level output then start to drop as you head out to 24 hours. A lithium type 9V battery might get the running time out several days as they have large capacity...Thank you, John

Hi, being a blacklight at 405nm violet region and not white light they are not measured in lumens, they are measured radiometric wattage, they are 12mW (milli-watt, 0.012 watt) with a 30 degree beam angle with an input voltage of 12 volts DC. They operate on 9-12 volts DC.

Will these illuminate rocks/crystals that glow under a black light?

Anything that is normally reactive to black light will react with these. I've used these for several projects involving items that are black light reactive, including paints, pictures, fabric, and plastic toy items.

What is the range for the blacklight? Does an object have to be be very close to fluoresce?

Hi:  The photos in the listing of florescent spray paint on paper are taken at a 2 foot distance, at 6 feet the lights narrow beam has about a 2 foot diameter and still provides good fluorescence in a dim / dark room. Thank you, John
