The Matthews 40" C+ Stand features a removable, folding design with a spring-loaded turtle base, providing a stable and portable solution for various professional applications.

Solid and sturdy
This is the standard in c-stands but I really wish they would use a finer thread pitch for the locking knob on the main column at the base. It comes loose way too easily.

I love this stand! It's well made and although I haven't had time to use it, I could tell it will hold my 60 x 60 softbox with my heaviest strobe. The only downside, which cannot be helped, is its weight. This sucker is heavy. I wouldn't be using it on any portable shoots unless I had plenty of assistants.

It's a C-Stand but lacks a couple important features
I'm not going to full review this stand - merely want to point out how it compares to cheaper/newer products.1) The turtle base uses an additional locking screw to prevent the legs from rotating. Loosen the screw and the legs flop about. Tighten the screw and it still has some play and doesn't feel as secure as newer (spring loaded) legs. It does the job, however.2) You can lock the knobs as tight as you like but you still get lateral (rotating) movement in the riser. If you have a large modifier that catches in the wind, this stand will rotate, as it is difficult to get it locked down sufficiently. My newer Flashpoint stand locks tight with no effort.3) The risers are not spring-loaded for safe collapsing. This is more a luxury than anything else.4) It appears smaller in stature than my Flashpoint, but heavier. Go figure.Otherwise, it's an adequate C-Stand. I purchased it because it's a Matthews - and I have other Matthews stands (non C-stand) that work well. I'm somewhat disappointed with this one.

Chances are if you ever work on or get a chance to see a Feature Film production in progress... The Grip Truck will be loaded with Cart Loads of Matthews Grip Equipment. Nuff said...

Best stand for any job.
This is the best light stand, flag and scrim and anything holding stand that money can buy. There's copy-cats out there, but this one is still the best, and best value for your money. I've been using this particular model for more than 35 years. I use sandbags sometimes draped over the legs, for stabilizing heavy set-ups.
