My experience so far, 10 months later
I bought the Lexar NQ790 1TB SSD in October 2024, and after 10 months of daily gaming, it’s been flawless. Zero issues—games load incredibly fast, and read speeds are exactly what I need. I run Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, League of Legends, Valorant, and Yakuza: Like a Pirate directly from it, all with smooth performance and quick boots. If I have one regret, it’s not going for the 2TB version. Modern game sizes are massive, and 1TB fills up faster than expected. Today, the SSD market is cheaper, and Lexar’s EQ range offers similar performance for less, so current buyers have great options. Bottom line: For speed, stability, and reliability in a gaming rig, the NQ790 1TB delivers. Just buy more storage than you think you’ll need—you’ll thank yourself later!

Not the fastest but nonetheless perfectly fine.
I'm trying to amalgamate my storage and I have a few 1TB external NVME's - but having several draws more power externally which causes USB issues (it resets the controller and makes you wonder if you can't power 10 devices, why put 10 USB ports there!!! That's a rant for another day). So a 4TB seems a good idea - I can remove 2 or 3 for this one and draw less power (even though I have 3 USB hubs!!!). I also have a 2TB of the exact same type which I use for my boot/OS disk hence the title. Fitting the NVME isn't an issue, it's the same as any other. My motherboard(s) have heatsinks and this doesn't ship with one so that's all fine and the external enclosures are their own heatsinks - I just added a thermal pad for obvious reasons. Partitioning and formatting are the same for any disk and transferring the files from one to another was fine with speeds of around 400MB/S - it's external, running off a same controller via USB, I don't need 7GB/s here. BUT - as the title says - it's not the fastest in use (I'm using real usage over benchmarks) - that honour goes to my WD Black SN850X. I have multiple PC's and have moved bits about left and right and the WD is the fastest booting (by a fair margin), the Seagate CUDA is second and this is in last place (the 2TB not the 4TB which is external). Don't get me wrong - it still boots plenty fast enough, it just is noticeably slower compared to those two. But if you're looking for a second disk for gaming storage or just photo's/music etc, there's absolutely nothing wrong with this at all.

Excellent Value and Performance for Gaming Laptops
Bought for my Legion laptop, as the default 1TB just isn't quite enough for modern gaming titles. I'm extremely pleased with this upgrade. Running CrystalDiskMark tests, this drive consistently achieved the expected read and write speeds, confirming its strong performance. More importantly, it's been exceptionally reliable over the year I've been using it, without any issues or concerns. Games load extremely fast, significantly cutting down on wait times, and the 2TB capacity provides plenty of space for all the demanding titles I like to play on the go. Considering its performance and reliability, this is a pretty good value SSD as well.

🚀 Lexar NQ790 2TB SSD: Speed Demon in a Compact Package
When it comes to storage solutions that pack a serious punch, the Lexar NQ790 is like a Formula 1 car for your computer's data highway. 💾 This PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe SSD is a performance beast that'll make your storage bottlenecks disappear faster than you can say "fast read/write speeds". With sequential read speeds up to 7000MB/s and write speeds of 6000MB/s, it's not just fast - it's blazingly quick. Whether you're a gamer, content creator, or power user, this drive will make your system feel like it's running on rocket fuel. The 3D NAND technology ensures both reliability and endurance, meaning this isn't just a speed demon, but a marathon runner of storage solutions. Compatibility with PlayStation 5 is a huge bonus for gamers looking to upgrade their console's storage without breaking the bank. Intelligent power management is a subtle but impressive feature. The drive can dynamically adjust power consumption based on workload, which means efficiency alongside performance. The HMB (Host Memory Buffer) and SLC cache technologies further enhance the overall user experience, providing smooth, consistent performance. Pros: - Incredible read/write speeds - PS5 compatibility - Reliable 3D NAND technology - Intelligent power management - 5-year product support Cons: - Premium pricing - Requires PCIe 4.0 support for full performance - Might be overkill for basic computing needs If you're looking to transform your system's storage from a mundane necessity to a performance powerhouse, the Lexar NQ790 2TB SSD is your ticket to lightning-fast data access! 🌟

Affordable SSD for any projects you might want!
Bought this SSD for Raspberry Pi 5 project for a NUT server, also used a POE and NVME hat, this SSD worked out of the box with the Raspberry Pi 5 without any issues. It is an affordable SSD for any projects you might need! However, this SSD is DRAMLess which isn't the greatest however, it is fine for most basic things.

Should have gone for the 4tb!!
As a photographer, i run out of memeory quickly, to run the adibe suite, i need to have a fast reliable dive, and this has delivered, not only grsat speeds for photoshop and lightroom editing, but great for gaming too. Dissappinted not to have invested the litte extra for the 4tb, at the time! Though 2 tb is a good start, for the proce, i will be upgrading soon, highly recommended, and very easy to install, it your comfortable opening a laptop!

Good value perfect little boot drive.
Perfect boot drive from my elitedesk G3, I normally go fro Kingsec but it was out of stock on this occasion. Nevertheless I didn't get disapointed the driver got detected straight away, the capacity was also correctly detected, some people reported that they are getting hot but it's the nature of this drive and you can get heat-sink if you feel they get too hot, personally I nver had an issue and this is used on an always-on mini pc. Good value and I hope it'lllast as long as my Kingspec ones.
