Perfect fit to allow a Ryobi battery to power a Dewalt tool
I recently received a knockoff Dewalt cordless drill, but no battery.I have a ton of Ryobi cordless tools, all using the Ryobi One battery.Rather than buying Dewalt batteries and chargers for just one tool, I bought this Ryobi-to-Dewalt battery adapter. It works great, and allows me to use my Ryobi batteries and chargers with my Dewalt knockoff drill.

Cool concept, but it's a bit bulky. I used it's parts to mod a tool.
The problem with Ryobi batteries is that crazy nub that sticks up. The packs were designed in the NiMh days, so it made sense to toss an extra NiMH cell in the nub space. In the lithium era, that space goes unused, but it has to be kept for compatibility with all the great Ryobi tools. If you want to use a Ryobi battery, with a different device, you end up with a giant adapter, like this one, that can accommodate that nub. In the end, I had a crazy idea... I decided to take the receiver part of this adapter out, chop up the tool I wanted to power with Ryobi batteries, and graft the two together. The nub fits in just about any power tool handle, so it's not hard to make it work. In the end, I was able to get a battery powered pressure washer to directly accept a Ryobi battery, with only 1/4" of extra plastic between the two, using pieces of this adapter. I'm quite happy with the results. As far as using the product as intended, I have to say it will be awkwardly bulky, and it shifts the center of gravity and alters the leverage points. What this means is that your hand will probably fatigue a lot more with an adapter like this. I can't say for sure, because I went straight for the unofficial mod idea, but, when you consider it's size, and the laws of physics, this will definitely change the balance of the tool in your hand. Having said that, there are many tools where balance/leverage doesn't matter, and in those cases, this would be a great way to make better use of your battery collection. Enjoy.

It works
Not too much to say, other than this does exactly what it was designed to do. Having a lot of Ryobi batteries and this adapter allows me to have a emergency way to power a Dewalt tool.I would NOT recommend running your 20 volt tool all day on an 18 volt battery, but in a pinch this does the job.
