You get what you pay for
Don't let the price turn you away from this one, or the negative reviews. This light is amazing and very easy to setup and get going, especially if you already have LIFX in your home. The initial setup up is a little slow and wonky, but every smart device I've ever owned that connects to 2.4 has acted the same way so no complaints there. The brightness is outstanding. Better than any online picture or video and can show. And don't be fooled by thinking you can only do a straight line or some form of an L shape. The corner piece is actually a T, and since my last name starts with a T, that's what I have on my wall. I have moved the bars in various positions before I figured that out, and the sticky tapes have never failed. The only problem I had with alinement was with the actual wall and not the lights. It's fool proof and the effects are really cool. The only thing I wish is that the animations and movements would run without the app having to be open in the background on my phone. I bought it to pair with my Razer Chroma setup and it does, but I seem to have no control there over the zones and all three of my LIFX light show up in Razer Synapse as one unit. Guess this is a software issue with the Chroma Connector app? Not sure as I'm still looking into it.

Quality lights!
LIFX always makes top quality lights but god their app and connecting procedures are abysmal. Amazing light other than the app.

Really disappointed with these
Absolutely beautiful and stunning lights.. when they work. The magnets that connect these things are absolute garbage, the adhesive is horrible, and every so often half of the damn things just turn off or start flashing random colors and I have to tap it to get them back to the original color or to get them to light up again. Really disappointed for what I paid for this and will probably end up returning these and getting either a new set to see if this one is faulty or just spending the extra money for something better. Update: got a replacement and the adhesive was way better and so was the connectivity with the magnets but after about a week they started flashing different colors, went to unplug them a couple times as stated in the repairing instructions and they stopped lighting up all together. Waste of time and money staying with a one star on this one

Great but not perfect
This is a first impression review. I have a SmartThings setup and a bunch of hue lights already. This doesn’t directly integrate with either of those systems that I could find. I used IFTTT to tie light scenes together, which has a little lag. I like the bars. They put out a decent amount of light. The color change automations are fun and I like that I can customize the colors. It was fairly difficult to set up. I had to try several times to get it going, ultimately resetting the light bar 3 times before it worked. Once it worked it was seamless. The tiles connect via a weak magnetic connection. Which isn’t ideal. The power connection is also a weak magnet (like an MacBook charging cable) and disconnects when I touch other things around it. They stick to the wall with command strips which works for me. I change my mind often. I would like a more permanent option for instillation. Overall I’m happy with these lights and want to buy more.

Not nearly as bad as all the negative reviews have them out to be.
Despite all the negative reviews, I figured I would purchase a set and give it a shot because I love the way they look. The installation was simple enough that I was able to install the units without reading the instructions. My advice though would be to install the units as if they did not have those 3M Velcro adhesive strips and treat them like simple adhesive strips. I tried to install a beam by applying the velcro strip to the wall then stick the beam to the strip and it was incredibly difficult and required a lot of force to get the beam to attach to the velcro. As for the multiple comments about the lack of brightness control, maybe they had an older version of the app, but there is brightness control for the app as well as brightness control through google home. Connection to the app and wifi was similar to other smart home setups, nothing overtly difficult or easier than other apps. I purchased the units around black Friday so they were $99, not the retail $150. Even at $99 I would not say they're a good deal. I think $99 should be retail and anything less than that would be the sale. Overall, I love them and who knows, maybe all the negative reviews are right and they will suck over time. But as of under a week of owning them, they're great, fun, and nice to look at. UPDATE: I have now owned these for 4 months, still as sturdy and bright as the day I installed them. No complaints, still in love with them. UPDATE 2: They're still up and running no problem, about 5 years later. My stance on the price still stands, especially since a lot of other competition is making similar lights. Cheers.

Fantastic!
My teenage son loved these! If you are familiar with LIFX bulbs these take it to a whole new level! Themes, FX, and colors work just as old bulbs. You can set each light within each beam by using Zones. Can get super customized.

Difficult to install using the hook n loop
Very very disappointed with the hook n loop (Velcro-like) used to attach the bar to a wall or furniture. The hook n loop on the back of the bar is embedded slightly below the surface. Why? Once the tape side is placed on the surface pushing on the bar does not connect the hook n loop. I could only get it to connect by pressing hard with my fingers. I quickly removed all the hook n loop tape and threw it away instead using double-sided gummy sticky tape that is easy to remove later. And the double-side tape is strong. Also the connectors from bar to bar is barely functional. It was be perfectly aligned. The corner was the worst part to sure it lined up with the two sides. I think it would be best to have small connectors and ribbon cable that be hidden—that would be my design. Lastly with 30 years of IT experience, multiple LIFX products setup this was frustrating. Five attempts failed. The final 6th attempt finally worked. I can honestly say when this stops working I will replace it with a Wyze LED light strip—which I’m using in several places in the house.

Look Great - Pain to Install
I have two of these and I love the look of the final product. I like it enough to buy two more, but I won't because of how infuriating assembly was. The product assumes you know exactly where it's going and wants you to just peel and stick each one to the wall as you go. Two problems with this: 1) Once it's synced and tested to work, you can't mix up the order of the sticks or you have to start over. The system isn't able to recognize a change in the segment order without a full reset (an obvious problem if you already stuck it to the wall. 2) Sometimes you just don't know where the light will look good until you experiment. This product will laugh at you if you try to move it at all. The magnetic connections are very weak so unless you mount it on a piece of foam board first, you are out of luck. My least favorite part is the actual power connector. There is no reason whatsoever to have such a weak magnetic (sideways) connector to supply power to this. Think of the old Apple breakaway connector only 100x weaker. It barely stays connected unless you adjust the cable in advance so that it will be positioned in a way that won't fall out. But . . . you can't do that because it doesn't allow you to experiment with positioning in advance, remember? This is a design flaw. There is no reason a simple plug or stronger magnetic base couldn't have made this an A+ product.

Simplemente extraordinario
