A must try if you love jerky
I've eaten a fair share of jerky in my day. But this one takes the cake! Perfect for anyone who likes the old-school dry and tough jerky. This one is delicious, you will not be disappointed.

Imitation Beef Jerky
PREFACE: Peppered? Nooo, this is teriyaki. Very very moist (not something I like in jerky). Texture was soft, very un-elk like. All in all, an expensive beef jerky imitation. If you're looking for a home-smoked style elk jerky (I.E. a dry, tough, deliciously chewy, smoked piece of meat-candy), look elsewhere. An edible, but altogether unsatisfying jerky. The first thing I noticed upon opening the bag was the heavy, sweet scent of teriyaki. Despite the bag I was holding reading "Peppered Jerky", it might as well have been teriyaki flavored. However, I like Teriyaki flavor almost as well as a good peppered jerky, so I shrugged and picked up a piece. It was very sticky, and pretty moist for what's supposed to be a dry, smoked meat product. I know some like their jerky marinated to the point of being almost juicy and tender, but to those people I say: "If you want a tender, juicy cut of meat, go cook a steak!" To me, jerky is DRY smoked meat, and that goes double for peppered jerky that doesn't need a liquid flavor applied. I've made my own teriyaki meat jerky over-marinated before, so I sadly knew what was coming next... With a sigh, I bit into the chunk of teriyaki-soaked, "peppered" elk meat. You know that great texture elk jerky has, where it's tough and chewy, but so flavorful? How you can chew on a piece for a solid minute or two, enjoying all that smoked-in flavor? Yeah, this has none of that. I don't know if they beat it into pulp, marinaded it till it started dissolving, or what. All I know is, I could cut this jerky with a FORK, and that's not what I want when I order elk jerky. Native Americans used to chew on elk fat like we chew gum today, which should clue you into how tough the meat's texture usually is. That's one of the things that makes it's jerky unique. My conclusion is, either this was some newfangled Kobe style Elk, or they ripped me off and used regular old Beef.

truly a great snack. The flavoring is just right
Delicious and meaty, truly a great snack. The flavoring is just right, without too much salt and has a very good texture for a jerky. Not too dry which is how I like it. It isn't organic which would make it 5/5 but it is wonderful.

Maybe I was disappointed because my expectations were different than the product I recieved. This "jerky" is more of a slow cooked, somewhat moist piece of meat. I'm more of an old fashioned jerky guy. This has a higher moisture content than I consider appropriate for jerky. It has a slight unnatural smok taste. All in all, definately not "bad" product, just not quite what I was looking for.

Very strong soy sauce taste+rubbery
Not the worst jerky I had, says peppered blend and the only flavor you can taste is soy sauce. Very rubbery overall still better than gas station jerky but definitely don’t plan on eating this again…
