Excellent timberjack for the average firewood cutter
I purchased this timberjack with a bit of concern looking at the reviews but was surprised when it arrived in a very good way. It, as some have stated, has a very thick base. 3" in diameter I would guess and is very heavy duty in my opinion. I did not use the stand on the timberjack opting to go without. Having cut logs on the ground before I see no need to lift the log up. This is inefficient and doesn't buy you any safety in terms of cutting. I first used it to clear a guys lot of trees he cut down for a new garage. Large group of poplar and ash. Some of the logs were in excess of 18" in diameter. According to the instructions it is designed for a 14" log (I believe, I don't have the instructions in front of me anymore) but it worked on my 22" logs no problem. The largest I rolled was 22" by 8' long and it didn't have an issue. I doubt it would go any bigger. 24" might be pushing it with the jaws. The handle was more than able to turn the 8' length and I believe it would have rolled the full 16' length had I tried (and not cut it in two) but I didn't want to abuse the tool more than I had too. I made my measured cuts using an 18" bar. Cut into the log halfway along the length. Then rolled the log and finished the cut. Kept my blade from ground contact, which is what I wanted, and made the process easy. I would recommend to anyone cutting firewood for occasional use. I use my fireplace all weekend long every weekend and pulled 4 cords of wood when I purchased this tool. It handled the task. No problems.

Sturdy, good fulcrum, well-built
I've used this a few times, and it has made my log cutting much faster. Now I can do bucking with just a couple of moves with this Peavey lifter rather than having to slide cut pieces under the log that I'm cutting. The handle is substantial and the whole thing feels rugged. So far it has worked like a champ.

Good but……
I’d give it 5 stars but the only issue I have with it is the base isn’t wide enough. It tends to tilt over and the log drops. I’m just gonna weld on a couple of pipe extensions and problem solved. Other than that it works great. Big back saver and keeps your chainsaw blade out of the ground. The handle is big and sturdy.

Well made and strong.
If you want a log lifter with strength, this one is it. The handle is wooden and strong. The last one I bought, before this one, had a metal handle that BENT into.

Works as intended
Purchased this a few months before i even got a chance to use it. And when I finally used it, it worked great. Exactly as intended. Lifted up a long alder log with minimal effort. Normally, i would have cut that log in 3 pieces and propped them up to buck. no need with this tool. Just use common sense using it with bigger or even longer logs. I intend to use this often for the alder trees I cut down for firewood in the future. This tool isn't too heavy and I assembled the pieces without fuss.

Very handy log support when bucking.
Just received today, already very unhappy. Box torn open on end and T shaped metal stand missing along with bolts. Terrible packaging for such a heavy piece tool. Slid around in box and ripped end open allowing important part to fall out. Wooden handle made from wood not very strong not what’s shown in description I Understand why some complained about breakage. Going to keep it as Amazon support credited some of my money back. I’ll weld up another stand and replace bolts as it’s too hard to return this item. Replace handle if it breaks, it’s a very handy tool when it’s manufactured correctly and shipped safely. Update, I welded up another stand, made somewhat shorter than original design. Find the lower fulcrum makes it easier to lift log. Very happy with tool now!
