I almost went with the less expensive ball-version but very happy I went with this one. I took it out of the freezer and used it last night before bed. I was surprised this morning when I used it that it was still cold/cool. Although I am an athlete, I haven't used it for that purpose. I purchased it as part of my post-operation surgery recovery. And wish I had it sooner as I really think it would have helped. I was told "No Ice" because of nerve damage/no feeling in the skin, doctors are concerned about frostbite. This would have been a great in-between to still provide relief. I am now also using it on my face and neck during my nighttime routine. I like this in conjunction with my smaller jade roller on my face and neck. I read another review suggesting it be longer/bigger and I could see how that could be useful on larger muscle groups like quads, but this is a great size and I would not change it. If it were any bigger, it would be heavier and not as user friendly or multi-purpose. The manufacturer could (should?) offer it in different sizes, but I wouldn't change this one. It appears to be pretty durable. I haven't had it long enough to say otherwise but seems worth the ~$22. I hope it can endure the constant freezing and unfreezing.

The quality is great, well made and durable. The metal roller has liquid inside when frozen stays cool for a long time. I use it for sore muscles and it works so well. Really helps to cool you off as well. Could also be used without freezing for a regular massage. Both equally effective and helpful.

Really helps nerve and muscle pain

First off, I would suggest putting this in the refrigerator rather than the freezer. I would imagine that the freezer temperatures cause the unit to fail and leak if left to thaw out and freeze over and over. I have been using this on as many joints/tendons/ligaments as I can reach that are sore after a recent return to the gym. It's works well and has a positive effect. I hope that the manufacturer will design a much larger and heavier version for serious athletic training recovery, that would be sweet.

I had to write a review because this massage roller is amazing! Easy to use with one hand, very solid and sturdy, and rolls very smoothly. The roller really does glide smooth and it stays cold if you want it to. It is a lot easier to use than some of the larger ones that have grips on both ends, like a rolling pin. This one is the perfect size to use on legs but easy enough to use on arms, chest, neck, etc because of the handle. I might buy another one to keep in my office!

This is a great item to have after a full knee replacement. I use it on my muscles to reduce inflammation. It is naturally so cold and helps stretch out tightened muscles

I love this thing so much I may buy a second one for my office. I get overheated very easily and this is so nice to have on hand. I have fibromyalgia and frequently deal with muscle pain. This helps so much more than just laying on an ice pack. I use it for the back of my neck and my shoulders just about every night. If you have someone around you can bribe to use it on your back, its even better. I've also used it for relief from migraines and TMJ pain.

OMG ....I just got this today and I love it! It feels amazing, between the cold and the smoothness of the roller I am very happy with this product! My only complaint is I wish the handle was just a bit longer since I'm using it on myself. Other than that it's awesome!!! I even rolled it on my head, I have long hair and it didn't catch my hair.

I've been looking for a good hand roller-type massager and finally found one. The built is sturdy, and allows me to put the pressure I need where I need it. It slides smoothly and the roller itself is slightly raised in the center forming a sort of point which puts more pressure in the center. This is ideal when you're using it as it feels great. The only complain I have is that I happen to come across it in a retail store for $10 cheaper. I could have return it but I like it so much I don't want to be without it, so I kept it. The quality is great and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a hand held massager.
