Cervus New Quality Headset Cup removal extractor tool Headtube Bearing

I purchased this tool few weeks ago & only just got to use it, first time ever building New front end on mountain bike so first time using one of these tools , happy, excellent and recommended. Also good delivery.

I bought this to upgrade my brothers 90's mountain bike from a threaded to a threadless headset. Part of the process is to remove the old headset cups.This tool managed to remove the old cups with relative ease, however you need to position the tool centrally while striking the tool, otherwise you will have very limited progression.Overall I would buy this tool if you need to remove headset cups from a frame as it is inexpensive but works

The tool works very well for the 1 1/8" end of a tapered headset or both ends of a straight headset but is too small for the 1 1/2" end of the tapered headset cup. It does work on a 1 1/2" headset cup if it's lightly inserted as it will act on 1/3 - 1/2 of the cup, and you move around the cup to tap it out, but it will not work for a well-seated headset cup, so you'll have to resort to a large ratchet extension piece to hammer it out gradually.

Well made and worked as advertised on 1 1/8" headset cups. Good value.

I wanted to change to shimano on my CAADX and needed to fit a bottom bracket adapter.I removed the spring clips with 2 mini screwdrivers and then bonged the bearings with this tool and a rubber mallet. All came out nicely.

If you align it carefully, concentrically, to the stem-tybe axis, and have the frame firmly fixed, and use a rubber mallet to tap the cup out, it should come out , without damaging the interior surface of the the stem tube. If you whack it with a Warrington hammer, it will be projected out, like a projectile from a gun-barrel. The centrifugal force, the tendency for diametrical expansion, necessary, for it to impinge only, on the thin cup rim in the stem tube, if the quadrant tips. MAY be too much, especially if carbon, or aircraft aluminium, stem tube material. So, gentle, repeat, impacts, on the tool-top, makes the cup, sweetly, drop!

Fácil de utilizad

Après avoir tapé pendant 1h avec un marteau et un gros tournevis plat, j'ai compris que les cuvettes de roulement ne viendront pas.J'ai acheté cet outil, un peu cher mais bien fini, aux bords non agressifs et au métal épais, et une petite masse en haut pour bien taper fort. 3 gros coups de marteau, et c'en était fini des 2 pièces rétissantes.Sur un vieu peugeot des années 80.Un peu cher mais fonctionne à merveille.

L'attrezzo è semplice ma efficace. Basta inserirlo nel canotto dalla parte più stretta finché si sente il "click" che ci indica che abbiamo appena passato la calotta con la parte che si espande dell'attrezzo. Dopodiché tenerlo ben dritto e battere con martellone in gomma, o similari mettendo qualche cosa sotto a riparare la caduta della calotta (ed eventuali cuscinetti). Consente un lavoro pulito e agevole. Consigliato per il DIY.
