It did not include the cover ,need buy seperately .

Can it read epub files?

The built in ereader app can read non-DRM epubs. Plus the device can use the Google Play store so you can install any ereader app including Kindle, Kobo, Nook and others.

How long can I expect the battery to last while the unit is sleeping but not completely powered off?

Mine has been in deep sleep for a couple of wks and still has 90% charge. It will turn off wifi at some point while asleep and you will have to re-enable wifi when you wake it. My device is running the latest software update which helped the power management.

Can you download ebooks from amazon, if so how?

You can load kindle app ,then work.

It's a bit expensive but fine in India

I bought this device from Amazon for 26k.it's a bit expensive but considering the fact that e reader options in India are very low this a good option. The major problem with this is the screen size. It's too small to read pdf's but for epubs it's ok
