This book can help you in a profound way.
Neal’s approach is accessible and he shares his own experiences with his mental health journey which creates a safe, judgement free space which allowed me to keep an open mind during some of the role playing exercises- if you can be open during these exercises, the healing and awareness might be as profound for you as it was for me. I cannot recommend this book highly enough and I hope I can thank Neal in person one day!

An actual solution to a universal problem?
Do you know anyone who isn’t harassed by an inner judge? This book makes a bold claim to be able to help people through a process of renegotiating this seemingly permanent relationship. In other words, it offers research-based processes for turning down and OFF the inner critic. After attending the author’s workshop in which he led us through one of the practices, I felt empowered to begin the process of change right away.I also appreciate Mr. Allen’s gentle approach. Rather than treat the inner critic as an enemy to be destroyed, he teaches us to treat this aspect of our psyches with respect for the role it has played in protecting us up to this point. This book belongs in the hands of anyone who wants more freedom to create the life they were meant to live.

Worth my time
As a professional in the field, I was interested to see how the author presented the function of the ego and superego, so I’ve done a quick read-through and now will go back to do a much slower reread, including the lovely introduction by LaMotte. Chapters are easily read. Progression makes good sense. Self-awareness will most likely be significantly improved by any who are willing to engage thoughtfully. A truly helpful piece of writing that makes life better. Thank you

Impossible to Read on Device
This might be a good book; however it is impossible to read because the font is minuscule! Unable to change the font or zoom in on *any* device. Have tried cell phone (Apple and Android), iPad, Android tablet and Kindle reader. No success. Major disappointment. My window of return to Amazon has closed; otherwise I would have requested a refund.
