Mattel Disney The Little Mermaid Storytime Stackers Playset, Ariel’s Grotto Stackable Doll House with Small Doll & 10 Accessories

I honestly really love this playset--there's a good number of pieces and accessories, and a lot of places to place them throughout her grotto. The features like the slide and seaweed that she can clip onto and be floated up and down are neat additions, and her little treasure chest even opens up! The characters come with holes to attach to the various spots around the grotto, but Sebatian's body is too high off the ground to work with any of these spots, so that was the only weird choice. I love the ability to customize the display. Kids will really be able to play around with this one and have fun. I love how easily it closes up and can be carried. I have mine closed and displayed with my collection, and Ariel is floating above the grotto. I just have to tilt her fin out of the way to be able to close it like this, but it works! The pieces are all well-made and look good along with the rest of my movie collection.

Alright I totally got this on a lighting deal for a little over $7, so for that price I’m blow away. It is like a larger Polly pocket. It has movable parts a 3in doll plus a few extras. Seems to be made pretty well nothing too cheap but not study enough to be drop off the kitchen table without breaking (my kids seem to alway play and drop toys from the bar or table). My kids will love it and it will get a lot of pretend play. Would make a cute gift, or travel toy as well considering it’s size. I’m hoping others in the collection will go on sale as well. Mama moment: At the moment this stackable collection are selling for 15 to 30 dollars a castle. I would not buy it for that amount. But I’m watching them like a hawk for $10 because I would love one or two sets more. Just being honest!

My 4 year old grand daughter loves it! She wanted it a castle for her mermaids & she played with it all weekend! Insisted on bringing it home with her, mom & dad says she's still playing with it! Best (less than) $20.00 I've ever spent!

Going to Disney soon decided to get some pre Disney toys… kids didn’t touch it yet… got it yesterday wanted to see how it’s attaching to the toy… it snapped in two… just like a movie quality is awful but I have other mermaid that clip on no problem so buy it for a toy itself not too bad I guess

This play set came interestingly packaged, because it wasn’t in the retail packaging shown in the product images, with a semi-open, brightly printed box and the characters in a plastic blister. Instead, Mattel had given up their usual high plastics and colourful printing approach to marketing toys on shelves in favour of more environmentally-friendly packaging: a natural brown box, with mostly just white ink printing. Although the outside of the box I received indicated the contents to be Ariel’s grotto from Disney’s The Little Mermaid, there was nothing to reveal what the contents will be like inside. Which is a bit odd, because the first thing you get to when you open the box is a colourful printed card flier showing the set (together with some of the additional mermaid dolls available). What’s weird to me about this is not using this as a label on the outside of the box: if you’re still planning to do the high ink intensity printing, it might as well be to make the set look more attractive as a present. There was no warning that this would be presented completely differently to the way it was shown. I preferred the more environmentally conscious design, but think this should have been depicted in the product images, instead of a completely different presentation style - as it seems quite misleading to do this. The grotto toy itself is a nicely designed all in one carry case play set, complete with seating, a slide, a dressing table mirror, and a moving clip for Ariel to go up and down from the grotto into the ocean outside. The set is made from high quality, sturdy-feeling plastic, with attractive use of undersea details and cleverly moulded texturing. A large-sized gold clamshell on the outside adds sparkle and looks suitably regal. The set includes live action movie versions of Ariel, Sebastian the crab, and Flounder as well as a treasure chest several of the gadgets, gizmos, whosits, and whatsits Ariel has collected from the world above into her secret stash. It’s a cute, neat, integrated set that’s easy to carry round.
