I waited for weeks to get this product and when received it was packaged as if new-the case was missing and the the blades release button was defective. Bad customer service.

My old knife had served its duty and it was time for a replacement.I looked around, and as soon as I saw this, I opted for it.This is not only a functional folding knife, but also, a work of art.While it is true that the handle is abalone shell, it is only a layer of abalone shell encased in resin.Which is OK with me since it will maintain its appearance over the years.When I saw this, they had me at Damascus Steel. If you are not aware of what Damascus Steel is, and why it is important, I suggest to the reader that you go to the Wiki write up on it.While the handle is artwork, so is the blade with the classic "Flowing Water" design.The angle of the blade is such that this is a knife which will cut you and you will not know it. Treat it with respect.Usually when I get a new knife, there is a certain amount of time and use for the folding mechanism to break-in and become easy to use.That process is not required with this product. The flipper mechanism is mounted on ball bearings and a simple flick opens and locks the blade. The release bar is on the inside. Push it to the side, and the release is complete. Watch your fingers as you close it. In the closed position, the blade is not locked, just and FYI.This came to me as just the knife, but there are many sheaths that are available.This will make a great gift item for anyone who admires knives, or just needs a good, functional folding pocket knife.Cheers All

This is a very nice pocketknife... gorgeous design and colors... very sharp with no additional honing necessary... smooth and solid opening mechanism... full tang design. The knife has some heft to it and is well crafted. As beautiful as the handle is, it is very slick and would be hard to hold if your hands are damp or sweaty.The carry sheath is gorgeous and finely made; though it is very snug making it difficult to get the knife in and out. I soaked it good with some leather conditioner and massaged it some and that really helped.
