I’ve been catching up on my business reading lately. This is a great book with lots of key lessons on how to build, foster and maintain a team, made very simple and easy to remember. The author’s use of real life stories to cement each lesson makes the text even more enjoyable and memorable. If you are an SMB owner (or even a larger company manager or executive) and you need help building a strong cohesive team, this book will be a great help.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It's well-written and gives a very practical approach to building and nurturing a team to be highly effective. I'm sure I'll refer back to this in the future, and will likely read all or parts of it again.

What a wonderful book on how to build a highly integrated and successful team. The author tells her story of how she created 7 stages that she used to create a highly trained integrated team in their Optometry business. She shares how she implemented the different steps in the process of taking a group of individuals and creating a highly integrated functional team. She starts with the first 1st (power blue), where they lay the foundation by creating an inspiring mission statement that’s achievable, along with job descriptions for each position. Hire the right and correct number of employees needed.Next, the 2nd level is creating a positive company culture, where teamwork, support, and kindness are emphasized, and everyone is treated equally. The 3rd level is ensuring excellent communication between all participants and up and down the organization exists. Next, in the 4th level, she worked on the office, ensuring it was attractive, met work needs, and had plenty of natural light. At the 5th level, she worked on team-building events to bond the team together and emphasize teamwork and good communication. Next, at the 6th level, they worked on advanced training and coaching to take the team’s effectiveness to the next level. Finally, they reached the 7th level – Indigo, where the team became highly effective, like a well-oiled machine, where harmony existed. What a great book, I would definitely recommend this book to any managers looking for strategies to improve their teams and take them to the next level.

I expected it to be a bit advanced after reading the book description but so far I have not found anything new or unique. But the writing style is engaging and judging by the book reviews from other readers I think this will deliver in the later chapters.

The author gave great tips on leadership. However, the biggest discovery for me are tips for interior design and general environment in which the team is working. Those can easily be missed as all of us mostly focus on soft leadership skills, but surroundings and interior design are also important for teams success. Nicely put together!
