Matte finish looks nice, but a few minor drawbacks
Bought this to replace a similar Speck Handyshell case that finally fell apart after 3.5 years of heavy use including wiping all surfaces down with rubbing alcohol at the end of the workday. The handle and hinge on the old model ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004SGSHDY/ , SPK-A0259) had held up just fine, but the silicone edges that grip the iPad were starting to separate from the hard plastic of the rest of the case, possibly because of the daily cleaning process. So no complaints on the brand or model in general, as this was still a really good bargain and the item lasted longer than expected.Chose this one as the replacement because the matte finish looks nice and should hide fingerprints better than the old shiny finish, and the grey-on-black color scheme of this handle is even more understated than the old red-on-grey or the current yellow-on-black and lilac-on-"pebble" options. However, I see two drawbacks to this newer unit already:1) The matte finish is a little easier to grip with fingers, but it also makes the case less "slippery" when trying to slide it into a padded tablet sleeve to carry in a briefcase or purse. My old shiny HandyShell fit right in to the same sleeve without a struggle, but this one has to be shimmied in gradually. Takes more time, and I can predict this shortening the lifespan of the silicone edge as well. It does not seem any thicker or wider than the old model, so I have to chalk this increased friction up to the matte finish.2) The handle itself does not feel as sturdy as the old model. The actual hinged joint seems OK so far, but the plastic ovoid ring/handle feels thinner and more flimsy. I see other reviewers mentioning the handle failing on this model, but that was also true of reviews for the older model. The old handle held up for me, but this new one might not be made of the same material. So only time will tell if I will get 3.5 years out of this case like the last one. Neither issue mentioned above is a deal-breaker, but if you tote your iPad almost everywhere (requiring a separate sleeve to keep the screen from being damaged by car keys and other flotsam and jetsam in your purse,)then you might want to buy a slightly larger sleeve to go with this one. My various purses with snug built-in tablet sleeves are now incompatible with this model <sigh>.

Great, despite a flaw that I fixed
This is a great ipad case - the loop handle on the back gives you a lot of options when it comes to carrying or propping up your ipad. One flaw that seems to come up for some people is that the screws holding down the handle may come loose. Mine were held in place with super glue which seemed to become brittle and work loose within a few weeks of purchase. After this, I found myself tightening the screws every day but every time I would move loop, the screws would work loose.I called Speck and they were very gracious to offer me a replacement, but I declined because it's a hassle to return things. After putting up with the loose screws for too long, I finally purchased some automotive grade epoxy, mixed up a small amount and put just a little on each screw and tightened them up - they have not moved since.I don't think everyone has this problem and if you do, the company will support you, but if you're allergic to unnecessary shipping hassles and would rather just fix the problem yourself and be done with it, use some of that famous epoxy that starts with a J and ends with a B.This might sound like a complaint - maybe it is, but you should consider it a testament to how much I like this case and the design that I was willing to put up with this issue. If Speck would solve this minor problem, this would be a 100% perfect product in my opinion.

love the form factor, not so much the durability
This case is great for general iPad use, love the handle (I wish it swiveled but it does not) for hand-holding or using my iPad as an e-reader on the couch. It's also handy for hanging it up on a hook.Unfortunately, the handle on mine is coming loose and the little plastic tab that covers the screws that secure the handle has fallen off and gotten lost. Eventually one of those little screws will work it's way out (can't get them tight any more) and get lost and then I will have to trash it and try something else.Another small gripe - when using as a stand in portrait mode, if you orient the tablet with the power button on top, the stand tends to allow a flex or bounce when you tap the screen, more so when you tap toward the top of the screen. If you flip the iPad so that the power button is on the bottom, the stand is more stable that way, but now you will be inadvertently turning it off while you are trying to use it, due to the power button getting pressed by the table. In landscape mode, you don't have much play in the angle of the tilt - there is only a narrow range of angles that will work. The case is quite protective of the iPad, with a cushioned rubberized edge all the way around. The screen itself is not protected, but the case comes around the front edge enough so that you can even place the iPad face-down on a flat surface like a desk without the screen contacting the surface. It doesn't really lie flat very gracefully with the case on, as the handle is not fully flush with the U-shaped ridge on the case back when folded back. Trying to use it when it's lying on it's back is pretty frustrating since it will wobble when you tap it.

Best case we bought for the iPad
All the rest started to fall apart, months later, this one still looks new. Occasionally a small bit of plastic covering comes off over the hinge joint, but we just push it back on. Also I had to tighten a screw that came loose.

Disappointing with SPECK because they dropped this amazing case for all new iPads
Disappointing with SPECK because they dropped this amazing case for all new iPads! Why? It's a fantastic case. I bought two back in the day I was using my iPad 3. Bring it back for iPad and iPad Pro please.

Great case for iPad.
Great case for iPad - very comfortable to hold but be careful with the handle!! This is my second one but I liked the first one so much I just had to replace it with the same one again after breaking the handle on the first one.

Spettacolo!
