How Often We Forget the Foundational Truths
The Western Church continues to struggle with its purpose in this 21st Century and as in the last 30 to 40 years we continue to try "new things," critque ourselves to the point of paralyzation ad naseum, as we chase after the latest voices with new paradigms to make the church "relevant" for the culture in which it finds itself. This is not to say that the Church doesn't need some serious house cleaning nor is it to say that change shouldn't happen. There are too many sacred cows in the church that are nothing more than cultural idols rather than biblical parameters.But as Cymbala so rightly points out we have continually forgotten the foundations on which no church can hope to survive let alone hope to carry out God's mandate. His focus on the Holy Spirit is strong along with personal and corporate prayer. As John Wesley rghtly pointed out over a century ago: "God does nothing except by prayer." Cymbala calls us back to reconsider, to recall to our minds and hearts how absolutely essential the Holy Spirit is to everything we call Christianity and Church and the transformation of both as well as our own walk. You can "feel" Cymbala yearning that the reader understand these truths and to return to the foundations.

Easy read, a lot of Jewels in this book. Very helpful for spiritual growth for all age groups.

God inspired writing by Jim Cymbala
This is one of several books that have been written by Jim Cymbala. It's very enlightening, encouraging, and uplifting. My wife and I both have enjoyed these books as part of our journey of learning and living for our Lord Jesus Christ. Great testimonies included in this book of encouragement too!

Must Read!
Jim Cymbala and Brooklyn Tabernacle are used of God again. His Booksmore than any other ( outside of the Bible) reach the heart 1st and head second. Also recommend fresh wind fresh fire.
