I tried it on a whim. I kept it on for life! I think this is the most useful boos pedal I've ever owned, and it's now a permanent fixture in my setup. This box is great for both clean boosts and extra umph for drives. The standard setting is very transparent, and I use it even while playing clean to give extra body to the sound. My favorite setting is both knobs at noon while playing my Les Paul with both pickups on using a clean channel - just pure blissful clean tones and overtones. I also use the gain around 2-3:00 for my drive channel and it gives such a good bump in the tonal qualities of the pickups. If your guitar sings on it's own, it'll sing better with this pedal. The two classic options included are very nice too - I can't speak to their accuracy of how they reproduce the Spece Echo or Echoplex pre-amp, as I've never had the originals to compare. But they do give lots of useful tones as well. But I find 95% of the time I stick with the stock settings and play with the gain know as needed. Think of it this way... In "Ten Years' Gone" by Zep, the arpeggiated chords in the beginning of the song are "pedal off," while the main riff and verse parts are "pedal on." That's the sound I get.

Boss Fan Boy here with a 5 star review of the Boss BP-1W. As stated elsewhere, it does make everything just plain sound better. It replaces a Xotic EP booster that I was only OK with. The 3 voicings are all good, but I like the Roland the best. Tested with a Fender Strat through an Orange Hybrid Micro Terror amp.

I have had this for a few month now and have used it for many applications. This is one of those "everyone would have use for this" kind of things. I have used it with tube and solid state amps. It really brings your guitar sound to life without being too overbearing. Take some time because each guitar and amp, when dialed in, sounds really good.

interesting pedal. i placed it in the chain between the compressor and overdrive and it seem to sound better with both clean and distorted settings, it gave the signal more body and a boost if i wanted it that way but its an always on pedal for me. i could probably do without it but things just sound better with it. the worst thing you can do is watch demo videos on this pedal, all of them are bad reputations of this pedal. kinda surprised that the waza version here does not have stereo ins and outs.

I honestly wondered if I’d be wasting my money with this pedal but ever since I bought it it has been a permanent fixture on my pedalboard. Such a good boost pedal with some cool features.

Excelente pedal , de muy buena calidad, va a mejorar tu señal de audio o si lo combinas con un pedal de ganancia ya sea distorsión , fuzz ,o un overdrive etc vas a notar una diferencia en la calidad de sonido

Wicked awesome Guitar Pedal, I’ll throw this out there right away. I’m not tore up about the gain of the pedal but everything else is absolutely awesome. I just turned the gain way down and leave the pedal on all the time , it gives me and my rig a complete unique sound that I’ve been looking for.

Perfect preamp, gives me that added edge of breakup stage.
