It functions very well. Easy to use and the holder makes it perfect to carry. It has different settings, a beep when it detects metal, and also a vibration when it detects metal. I prefer the beep, but if you wanted it to be quiet you could use the vibration feature. The vibration setting shakes a little when it detects metal. The only small issue was when you first turn it on, sometimes you need to adjust what setting you are on, and sometimes you aren't sure if it is on. I tended to move it over something metal to see what setting it was on. Also, if you leave it on, it auto-turns off, after about a minute or so, but this is to protect the battery. Can sometimes be annoying if you are using it for a long time, but for the majority of my experience that was just enough time for me to pinpoint the metal. I highly recommend it, as it was super helpful to find and pinpoint items in the ground. It would have been extremely hard to dig if not for this tool. I highly suggest you buy it if you need one.

I bought one (different brand) for my 9 yr old granddaughter. I was worried about the quality of it, so I also purchased this one. I told her she could choose. She ran them over the walls (studfinder!) and then looked at the features. She chose this one, even though the other was a brighter color. I'll keep the other one for my own use. Very fun item.

The sheath for the pinpointer will not stay attached to anything that you want to attach it to. There are no sewn edges, and the snap wont hold the weight of the ponpointer being put in to the sheath more than once.

I love metal detectors so I ordered this

I did submerge the deive about a foot into cold river water. I was 100% sure the battery compartment was sealed well before use, as there is a gromit that you can tell expands a bit when tightly turned. This is how you know you sealed the battery correct you can feel the gromet bulge out slightly. unfortinaly somehow I think water still got in and damaged my rechargible 9V battery. The device now only detects metal when its literally touching the probe sometimes. It worked decent before that I was able to detect a peace of lead for fishing weight in the dirt. 2 starts for working before water, 0 stars for not actually being waterproof like advertised so that averages out to 1 star. Dont get this or if you do seal it up with epoxy or resin or silicone or something, bc water is getting in somewhere (hint: probably the button)
